Take an insider's look at the Selma-Montgomery marches - Highly recommended! Do not miss this opportunity to experience Selma's 1964-1965 history and to learn about the principal role played by F. D. Reese, a Selma science teacher and minister, in the struggle for voting rights. Reese invited Martin Luther King, Jr., in January 1965 to lead the group of teachers and citizens that Reese had organized. The politics between the various players are fascinating.
Alan and Marvin offer a unique perspective on an historic time as grandsons of this hero of the civil rights movement. They take you to sites in Selma where the drama unfolded and offer you the opportunity to walk the Edmund Pettus Bridge. You have the satisfaction of honoring Reese and the heroes of Bloody Sunday, Turn Around Tuesday, and the March from Selma to Montgomery, March 21-24, 1965.

Civil Rights history comes alive - This was a phenomenal experience. It was the start of our Civil Rights tour of Selma and Montgomery, Alabama. Talking with Alan and Marvin, and driving all together to see the sites they told us about, was a really moving experience. None of the three of us had been taught anything about the Selma to Montgomery march in school, so it was really enlightening to learn about how the events unfolded and, of course, FD Reese's pivotal role.
What isn't mentioned in the description is that Alan and Marvin are going to drive FROM ATLANTA (about three hours each way!) to meet you and give you this very personal tour.
Thank you Alan and Marvin for a fascinating and touching tour.

Awesome way to honor the sacrifice - These gentlemen show true honor and passion for what they're doing, educating and informing the public about the history and efforts of their grandfather and others who played such a significant role in our history as Americans. It was touching and I'm grateful that I had the opportunity

Must Do in Selma - This experience was on the third day of our Civil Rights tour in Alabama. Our tour guides, Allan and MJ, grandsons of FD Reese, literally opened their family home to us and their hearts as they shared not only Selma's history on voting rights, but their grandfather's pivotal organizing role in lifting up the Selma community. They underscored the importance of individuals in organizing on a grassroots level in their community. These individuals are everywhere and need to be acknowledged. You won't want to miss this unbelievably powerful experience.

Take this tour! - This was a highlight of our five day civil rights trip. We are so grateful for the warmth and hospitality of the Reese family. If you want to hear the stories behind the Selma march, this tour is a must. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

YOU WILL LEARN A LOT! - Selma has so much history! And driving/walking around with Alan and Marvin was an easy way to learn a LOT! The F.D. Reese Historical Tour is a MUST for anyone interested in the history of the Civil Rights Movement. We came from Los Angeles and San Diego to visit Selma. It was an honor to spend time with Marvin and Alan and learn the story of their grandfather, Frederick D. Reese ... a powerful, yet humble leader. The Historical Tour was the absolute highlight of our visit.

A Wonderful Experience - Although there were only the two of us for this tour, Allen met us at his grandfather's home and gave us the complete history, showed us the pictures and memorabilia, and then took us around the town to the sites so important in shaping the civil rights struggle in Selma. A wonderful experience.
