Ephesus didn’t garner its significance from antiquity, but rather from its evolution as a chief trade hub and seat of power. It houses the largest shrine dedicated to the worship of Artemis, an entity from ancient Anatolia’s goddess (Kybele) lineage. This shrine is recognised as one of the seven wonders of the world.
