- Jomblang Cave - Jomblang Cave is one of the many cave complexes in Gunungkidul, renowned for its unique and undeniable beauty. Situated on a stretch of karst hills along the southern coast, extending from Gombong in Central Java to the karst region of the Sewu Mountains in Pacitan, East Java, Jomblang Cave was a filming location for the American TV show Amazing Race in 2011. This vertical collapse doline cave was formed by a geological process where the soil and vegetation above it sank to the earth’s bottom. These remnants created a sinkhole or well with an area of about 50 square meters at the cave’s entrance. In Javanese, wells are also known as luweng, hence this cave is often referred to as Luweng Jomblang.
- Timang Beach - The name “Timang” is derived from a large boulder that breaks the waves in the middle of the ocean, known as Timang Island. Timang Island is a major tourist attraction due to a gondola, a type of cable car, that can be used to cross to the island. This gondola was built in 1997 for fishermen seeking seafood like lobsters, as it was impossible to reach the island by boat due to strong waves and currents. The gondola was created to aid them in their lobster hunting. Due to the high tourist interest in the gondola ride, it has become the main attraction of Timang Beach. Made of acacia wood, the gondola uses one or two stationary ropes for support, as ropes are more resistant to seawater than iron and steel. The gondola can carry only one person at a time to Timang Island.

Jomblang cave is a unique geological formation known as a collapse doline, formed by the earth’s surface and its vegetation falling into a subterranean void millennia ago. This phenomenon has resulted in an expansive cave entrance roughly 50 meters in diameter.
Timang beach offers coastal allure at the seam where land meets sea. The standout feature for visitors is the Timang island, accessible via a traditional Gondola - a kind of aerial tramway originally employed by fishermen to pursue oceanic delicacies such as lobster. The rough seas and powerful currents made it impossible for boats to safely reach the island, inspiring the creation of the gondola to ease their quest for lobsters.
