Not to be missed private tour to Borobudur. So much better than a bus tour - Our driver and guide made sure we arrived just as the second level of Borobudur opened. We were able to bypass the crowds, see so much more without tripping over other tourists. Our guide gave us wonderful and pertinent history and folklore; our driver was an expert in traversing the busy and congested roads. They took us to a great little restaurant for a late lunch. We covered so much more with East Journey Travels than did our fellow cruise passengers who paid more for this upcharged excursion. Highly recommend—dependable and communicative

Private excursion from Cruise Terminal to Borobudur - We had a beautiful private excursion. A long trip to the temple, but absolutely worth it. Excellent driver and guide, safe driver and the guide was full of information about the island and its developments. Our guide made sure we good the “good” Guide at the temple complex (the guide from the temple goes with you to and on the temple). Lunch was excellent. We were on a cruise, timely transfer:)). Would Recommend.

Informative private guide - Great, friendly, private guide - Hassan (and driver). The 2.5 hour drive from the port to the temple flew by as our guide kept the conversation interesting and informative. And the route off the main highway allowed us to see more of the country as well.

Beautiful and humongous temple - Jamal was a great tour guide, but too bad it was Monday and we were not allowed to climb up to higher levels. Avoid Monday.

Very good guide - During our trip to the Borobudur our guide Uke explained a lot about Indonesia and Semarang. At the Borobudur guide Woody was waiting for us. He is a funny guy who made professional videos from our stay at the Borobudur. It’s a long way up with very high steps, not suitable for people with leg/walking problems.

Great trip to an amazing Buddhist temple - Today we visited Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world. It's a 2.5 hour drive from Semarang, so it makes a full day. Our guide, Budi, was extremely enthusiastic, and funny, and gave us a great overview of the temple and its history. The place is amazing! Budi also has an interesting hobby: he likes to take romantic photos of couples. ;o) After visiting the temple, we had a delicious meal at a beautiiful local restaurant. We highly recommend this tour!

A good tour company that fixed a problem that was not their fault - Our tour got off to a bad start when another traveler with a similar name inadvertently took our guide/driver. We waited at the designated meeting point and then phoned the tour company contact number when we did not find our guide. They contacted the guide who was already en route to Borobudur and everyone realized the error that occurred. The tour company dispatched another driver and arranged to have a guide meet us at Borobudur. We ended up waiting 90 minutes for the new driver to arrive and this resulted in us seeing Borobudur in the late afternoon. We had ample time to visit before closing and it was uncrowded and peaceful. The tour company did everything they could to make the situation right and we were satisfied with their efforts.

Full Day to Tour Borobudur Temple - The largest Buddhist monument in the world is a must-see site, but seeing it involves a full-day experience, as it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the port of Semarang. The drive is interesting, however, as it involves travel through multiple villages, agricultural areas, and mountain views. This tour allows about 1 1/2 hours at the monument, which is needed to climb to the top and fully experience the site. Our guide was very kind and helpful to my husband as he struggled to make the climb. The history of the temple is very interesting, as is the restoration as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a private tour with guide and driver in a nice, air-conditioned vehicle. The tour included a very nice lunch as well as bottled water during the trip.

Memorable destination. - Our guide and driver who took us from the ship to Borobudur were very good, the guide greeted us, chatted with us, made sure we were comfortable. The driver was amazing navigating all the traffic. But it was disappointing on arrival at Borobudur to find our tour was no longer private as we had to wait 45 minutes for other people to join us to go into Borobudur. This meant valuable time wasted and lunch very much delayed and eaten in the car, to make sure we got back to the ship on time. We were back in plenty thank you to our driver.
