Semera - This morning, you’ll catch the first flight to Semera. From there, you’ll drive to Hamdela, a very small village, which will take up to 7 hours. You’ll stop for lunch in Afdera, a small town, and dine at a local restaurant. After lunch, you’ll continue driving to Hamdela. In this village, you’ll spend the night, with your chef preparing dinner, and you’ll sleep outside under the stars.
Drive from Hamedela to Dollol and Erta Ale
Dallol - Early in the morning, your chef will prepare breakfast before you start driving to Dallol. On this day, you’ll have the opportunity to photograph many beautiful sights, starting with the sunrise. Dallol is a cinder cone volcano in the Denakil Depression, known for its unique geology. You’ll visit Dallol, one of the lowest places in the world at 125 meters below sea level, and photograph colorful salt mining and Lake Asela. After visiting Dallol, you’ll drive back to Hamdela for lunch. If you wish to take a shower, you’ll need to ask, as water is sold by the locals. In the afternoon, you’ll drive to Erta Ale, which means “smoky mountain” in the Afar language. Erta Ale is one of Ethiopia’s most captivating and physically demanding natural attractions. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and a 1 km square caldera at its summit.
