Unique and fun tour! Ali is VERY easy to talk to and is friends with all the shop owners :) - I was nervous to book this tour because of the few reviews, but I'm glad I did. I had a fantastic tour with Ali! He is incredibly kind and charismatic. He took us around to different restaurants/bars and tailored the evening to our interests. It was just my husband, myself and Ali, because Ali is easy to talk to and clearly has a knack as a host, it wasn't awkward! We had a great time drinking cocktails and eating delicious food. Ali took us to places that seemed to be locals only. The owners at all the spots were excited to seem him and would enthusiastically greet us. Ali was an excellent host and this tour was well worth the cost. I can't imagine a better way of exploring the Sendai food scene!

I really recommend it. I'd like to ask you again. - We decided to travel to Sendai with a friend and asked for a tour because we wanted to enjoy famous places such as beef tongue and Zunda by ourselves, and to have other "local" experiences. Ali, our guide, introduced us to many delicious restaurants that even local people "know" about, and we were able to spend more time than we expected! I really enjoyed talking to regulars and staff, which I couldn't taste in a tourist-oriented shop, and I liked Sendai even more. I would love to visit again next time! Please come back then. Also, being a foreign guide, I was a little worried at first due to language and cultural differences, but that worry was worrisome! Ali also knows deep Japanese that even Japanese people don’t usually use, and his fresh sense of foreignness is interesting, to the point where his face hurts without a lot of laughter during the tour (laughs).

Fantastic Izakaya Tour Despite the Holiday Challenge - We had an incredible private izakaya tour last night, thanks to Ali, our amazing guide. Tasked with the seemingly impossible mission of finding open establishments on January 2nd—a tough day during the New Year holiday—Ali went above and beyond to make the evening special. Although he couldn’t get a hold of us beforehand (all our contact info was tied to American numbers that don’t work in Japan), Ali adapted flawlessly. He took us to some of his personal favorite spots, which, fortunately, weren’t overly crowded despite the holiday closures. His recommendations for restaurants were absolutely superb—every dish we tried was fantastic! But Ali’s assistance didn’t stop there. Knowing we intend to move over with a large dog, he even helped us locate places that sell large-breed dog food, which we had yet to find on our own. That extra effort really showed how attentive and thoughtful he was throughout the evening. Ali provided a thorough walkthrough of the area, explained customs and details we would’ve otherwise missed, and ensured we safely returned to the main street where we were staying. He was attentive, engaging, and genuinely committed to giving us the best experience possible under challenging circumstances. He is a really great communicator with the locals, and that made the whole experience all the better for us. We would absolutely recommend this tour, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area or Japanese izakaya culture. We’re already looking forward to doing it again on our next trip—when it’s not during the New Year holiday!

Best night out imaginable - This was an absolutely amazing and fantastic experience. I had a blast all night. The tour was fully customised to the experience I was after and what I liked. Ali, truly knows all the best spots in Sendai, it was an experience I would not easily forget. The variety of places I was taken to was amazing, I had such a unique and wonderful experience in each. I really do recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great time. It's a 10/10.

Please Book This Tour - I could not recommend this tour enough. One of my most memorable nights out ever. Ali was fantastic and very knowledgable of the area. He was flexible and was able to accommodate our interests as they arose throughout the evening. Everywhere we went was a unique and wonderful experience. He was super friendly and charismatic. It’s easy to see that he really knows the locals well and that they know and like him too which was really nice. I would have never found these places without him. Also, Ali made sure we both got home safe at the end of the evening as well, which we really appreciated. Would book again for sure.

Great mix of izakayas and laughs. - Ali did a wonderful job in choosing a mix of places to showcase a variety of different styles of izakayas and his ability to speak fluently in both Japanese and English helped to connect with the locals that were also there which made for a fun time. Ali also understands the nuances of social etiquette and helped me refine my crude Japanese to a much more polite and appropriate version.

Perfect Sendai tour - Ali is an amazing guide. We were last minute clients and Ali's local knowledge of Sendai places to go off-the-cuff were perfectly complementary to the experience we were hoping for. All of his friends and the owners of each place we visited were extremely welcoming and their food and drink contributions and suggestions were always right on. Big thanks to Ali!

Best of Sendai - Private tour through Sendai. I really like that Ali takes the time before the tour to arrange an itinerary that caters to your interests. We visited a few hole in the wall eating and drinking spots, each with its own specialty. Many of these places have limited seating usually reserved for locals, but Ali helps get you in to try these hidden gems that a tourist might otherwise struggle to visit themselves. Ali is very knowledgeable about the area and even gave me some recommendations for places to visit later in my trip, based on our conversations about food, which I will be sure to try later! I've been on a few eating and drinking tours around Japan, but this was my favorite by far. Small private groups let's you enjoy Sendai with the locals instead of being put to just the tourist table.
