- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - Located on the southern coast of Jeju Island, Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff is a stunning volcanic rock formation featuring columnar-jointed lava. This natural wonder was created when lava from Hallasan Mountain flowed into the sea at Jungmun, forming numerous hexagonal rocks that resemble geometric columns. The cliff, standing at a scenic 20 meters (66 feet) tall, is a popular spot for its breathtaking views. Visitors are often captivated by the dramatic waves crashing against the cliff’s pillars during high tide.
- Yakcheonsa Temple - Yakcheonsa Temple is renowned for its exquisite art and architecture, elevated gardens, and sweeping views of the island’s coastline. Although it was constructed in the 1990s, it emulates the style of early Joseon Dynasty Buddhist temples. The temple’s main hall is notably large, with some claiming it to be the largest in East Asia. Inside, visitors are awed by a 5-meter high statue of Vairocana, surrounded by altar portraits of Buddha. The temple is uniquely integrated into natural rock caves, and the main hall houses 18,000 Buddhas. Outside, a massive 18-ton bell can be seen.
- Jeongbang Waterfall - Jeongbang Waterfall is a must-see attraction on Jeju Island, celebrated as the only waterfall in Korea that cascades directly into the ocean. The waterfall is an impressive sight, standing 23 meters tall, with water flowing off the vertical cliffs of the Seogwipo coast. Depending on recent rainfall, it can appear as a single stream or multiple streams tumbling over the cliff. The area at the waterfall’s base is equally captivating, featuring a small beach with large rocks that visitors must navigate to reach the falls, creating a prehistoric ambiance. Capture a memorable photo on a rock in front of the waterfall to commemorate your Jeju adventure.
- Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market - As the largest market in Seogwipo, Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market is a traditional market established in the early 1960s and remains a vital part of the local economy. Often regarded as a top tourist destination in Jeju, it offers a glimpse into everyday life on the island. Visitors can purchase a variety of foods, including agricultural and fisheries products, as well as souvenirs. “Maeil” means “permanent,” and “Olle” is a Jeju term for a narrow alley, typically referring to a path leading from a main road to a house entrance. Nearby, the Seogwipo 5-Day Market opens every five days.
- Oedolgae - Oedolgae Rock is a striking 20-meter tall basalt formation located on the picturesque southern shore of Seogwipo. Known as Lonely or Independence Rock, it stands isolated in the sea, far from the land. This resilient rock, shaped by wave and wind erosion, is geologically classified as a sea stack. Oedolgae serves as a scenic photo spot and offers trails for trekking. It was also a filming location for the drama series “Jewel of the Palace.”
- Jeju Island - At a tangerine farm on Jeju Island, visitors can wander through rows of tangerine trees, laden with green or yellow fruits, and enjoy picking tangerines. Tangerine farming is a major industry on the island, which is home to a variety of tangerines. When the fruits ripen, Jeju Island is awash in yellow, except in urban areas. The harvest season runs from October to February, offering a perfect opportunity for memorable photos while picking tangerines.
