The remnants of an ancient train, known as the “Iron Horse,” are showcased at Imjingak Park.
Created as a symbol of the railway that once linked the Koreas and dismantled during the Korean War, the “Iron Horse” train is proudly displayed at Imjingak Park.
Imjingak Park was established as a sanctuary to comfort refugees who fled from North to South Korea during the Korean War. The railway connecting the two nations was dismantled during the conflict.
- Bridge of Freedom - The Bridge of Freedom – a historical journey
The Bridge of Freedom was constructed to facilitate the return of 12,773 prisoners to South Korea in 1953.
Visitors can explore the Freedom Bridge, which was built to liberate 12,773 prisoners in 1953. This bridge was used by South Koreans returning from the North. Experience the cultural and emotional significance of this site by retracing their steps decades later!
- The Third Tunnel - A must-see on our itinerary is the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel. Situated 12 kilometers from Munsan and 52 from Seoul, the tunnel was uncovered in 1978.
Its intended use was to invade the south. Measuring 1,635 meters in length, 2 meters in height, and 2 meters in width, the tunnel could transport an entire division per hour!
Interestingly, when the tunnel was discovered, North Korea claimed it was built by the south for a surprise attack, but evidence suggests otherwise. Walking through it feels like stepping back in time!
