Since its designation as a city natural park in 1968, it has remained a popular spot for relaxation and excursions among Seoul’s residents. The mountain’s rugged terrain, characterized by various rocky peaks and deep valleys, adds to its allure. Its size and proximity to Seoul make it an ideal destination for day trips. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom near the mountain’s entrance, and a Rhododendron Festival takes place when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. At the summit, you’ll find Wongaksa Temple and Yeonjuam Hermitage, established by Taejo Yi Seong-gye (the founder of the Joseon dynasty) to ward off misfortune when he moved the capital to Seoul. The mountain also hosts other temples, hermitages, and a ground radar observation post.
- Yeonjudae Lookout | Gwanaksan - At the summit of the mountain, Wongaksa Temple and Yeonjuam Hermitage were built by Taejo Yi Seong-gye (the founder of the Joseon dynasty) to prevent misfortune when he relocated the capital to Seoul.
- Saemaul Traditional Market - Saemaeul traditional market is the closest market to Jamsil baseball stadium. It offers a chance to experience and enjoy the local Korean lifestyle and purchase food while watching a baseball game. The market’s food is considered superior to that available at the stadium. I highly recommend buying chicken and other food items.
- Jamsil Baseball Stadium - Jamsil baseball stadium is home to two Korean professional baseball teams and is one of the most exciting places to experience in Korea. Fans sing, yell, and chant while enjoying special Korean chicken and beer.

Travelers coming from overseas are not easy to reach Gwanaksan Mountain. At the mountain’s summit are Wongaksa Temple and Yeonjuam Hermitage, which were built by Taejo Yi Seong-gye (the founder of the Joseon dynasty) to ward off misfortune when he decided to move the capital to Seoul. And the market is local market and get a chance to see Korean local’s life. Here is not a touristic place. Jamsil Baseball stadium is the most exciting place in Korea. People are singing, yelling and having fun. You would see and feel local village, life, and nature. I do not want to make travelers feel this trip is an industrial product. And I also do not want to serve my trip participant as just one of the customers. I just hope we can feel this trip like traveling with friends and making impressive memory together. Thank you.
