- Gangneung Wolhwa street - Gangneung Wolhwa street used to be a railway site running through Downtown Gangneung. This street is home to a lot of events, cultural performances and even night markets happening during weekends. Wolhwa street is also known for being the place where the love story between ‘Muwolrang’ and ‘Yeonhwa’ took place during the Silla period.
- Ojukheon - Okjuheon House shows the lifestyle and architecture during the Joseon Dynasty. It is one of the oldest preserved Korean style houses. It was designated as a National treasure in 1963 for its historical value. Ojukheon House is actually the house where Shin Saimdang and her son Yulgok Yi I who became a famous philosopher lived. Their names might not sound familiar to you, but their faces should definitely as they are the world’s first mother and son who are printed on Korean currency. Shin Saimdang is on the 50,000 won bill and her son on the 5,000 won one.
