Home away from home - I was unfortunately alone for the whole experience. I say unfortunately because Tomoko san is a great host, the food was AMAZING and the afternoon was memorable. She made me taste her homemade plum wine, some pickled cucumbers from her garden and so much more. She makes so much by hand. She de day was full of surprises and I heard about the Japanese hospitality but she went beyond that. I would say it was home away from home but I think I will miss that place when I get back home. It’s a very cozy time in her house. Would 100% recommend

I had the best time in a nice space with nice food ♪ - "Lovely food." Each seasoning was carefully selected, and I was able to learn the basics and application of cooking, from how to make flavors to the compatibility of ingredients. Pasta sauce, roast beef sauce, everything was handmade from scratch, so from the moment you put every dish in your mouth, you say, "It's delicious!" It popped and flew. "Nice space." From the tableware to the cutlery to the place mats to the kitchen/dining atmosphere, it all had charm. I realized that the hospitality spirit is alive in the tools and atmosphere that complement the food! I was mesmerized by the wonderful food, the wonderful space and, most importantly, the wonderful personality of Tomoko, and had a great time!

Casa de Tomokita: A memorable and fun time cooking, eating, drinking, and talking story! - May and I met Tomoko at the train station and began our walk to her home. Along the way, we stopped by a local temple and Japanese garden. It was a nice sunny day and when we reached her Casa de Tomokita, she offered us tea, snacks, and a cool oshibori (towel)! Tomoko’s hospitality and enthusiasm made us feel like we were over at a friend’s home to cook, eat, drink, and talk story! Of course, it is a cooking class and you do participate in the prepping and cooking. On the menu were ramen and gyoza. The shoyu based ramen broth was not complicated at all. Assembling the gyoza was a first for May and I, but we did a pretty good job! Our entire meal included a salad, some side dishes, and dessert. It was oishi (delicious)! Your level of cooking skills doesn’t matter as Tomoko is very accommodating! If you want to experience cooking and having a meal in a Japanese home with a wonderful host like Tomoko, I highly recommend this class!

An excellent way to spend the afternoon - This was one of our favorite activities on our honeymoon trip to Tokyo. Tomoko-san is super friendly and kind. She is a very skilled teacher and our limited Japanese language skills were not a problem at all! It was nice to be able to escape the busier parts of the city and see this beautiful neighborhood. The food was delicious and plentiful! What an excellent memory! If you're on the fence, just book it!

Great food and a wonderful peek into everyday life in Japan with two fun ladies! - Tomoko and her wingwoman Junko met us at the Todoroki train station exactly as planned. Having experienced some of Tokyo’s massive train stations we were worried about finding her but Todoroki station is tiny and impossible to hide in. The walk to Tomoko’s house through the peaceful Todoroki valley was beautiful and spoiled only by the fact that her Sunshine Spell didn’t work…but we appreciated the effort. The gardens were lovely and there was a small temple/shrine. After a short walk to her home we started cooking and laughing. Both Tomoko and Junko were delightful company. They had prepared some of the ingredients for ramen and gyoza in advance but left plenty for us to do. Despite our rather ham handed help the results were amazing and plentiful. We couldn’t finish everything even with beer and plum wine to wash it down. All in all a wonderful and fun experience. Don't hesitate! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
