Tangier is rapidly transforming, yet it retains its unique identity as the most European of African cities and the most African of European cities. It’s a city that defies convention, blending the modernity of Casablanca with the traditions of Fes. What gives Tangier its distinctive allure? Its strategic location has been pivotal in its historical development, making Tangier a city like no other. Visitors from any nation can find elements of their homeland here, while simultaneously experiencing a sense of being in a completely different world. Fantastic private tour to Tangier from Seville - We had an outstanding full day private tour from Seville to Tangier with VIP Malaga Tours. There were two couples in our group. Our day started with pickup at our hotel by Luis in a comfortable van. He took us to the port in Tarifa, where we had a little free time to shop and get a coffee while he bought our ferry tickets (and filled out all our paperwork - thank you!). Luis then escorted us to the ferry with instructions on how to meet our private guide in Tangier. All went as planned and we were soon on our way in another very nice van with our Tangier guide and driver to see the nearby sights. Our guide then took us on a walking tour of Tangier, with plenty of time for shopping and lunch. We made lots of purchases in the souks, including dried fruit and nuts, scarves, tapestries, jewelry, t-shirts, and leather slippers. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He steered us to wonderful stalls and shops with high quality goods. The bargaining was fun. We had such a good time that my husband and I would like to return to Morocco and hire the same guide for a multi-city tour someday. At late afternoon, our guide and driver took us back to the ferry terminal, and waited until we boarded. Another quick ferry ride back to Tarifa and we were met by Luis for the return trip to our hotel in Seville. Trust VIP Malaga Tours to put together the perfect day for you. The custom private tour to Tangier was worth every penny!

VIP Malaga - Tangiers, Gibralter and Lisbon/Seville Driver - 10+ Stars THE BEST - We took 3 different tours with VIP Malaga. Mark was a fantastic communicator and made all of our arrangements custom as we requested. First we worked with them to drive us from Lisbon to Seville. Mark secured a great driver and arranged that we could stop for lunch and sight seeing in Evora - it was wonderful! Next we had two separate tours over two days. First Luis (who was just the best!!) drove us from Seville to Gibralter and then made sure we got across the border and met our guide in Gibralter. After Gibralter we met Luis again who drove us to Tarifa and made a stop along the way to see a great view. He shared so much knowledge with us and was an absolute pleasure to spend time with (including his birthday!). The next day we took the ferry to Tangiers and again were met by several guides arranged through VIP Malaga, and all were superior and made sure we saw everything we wanted to and got many pictures. After a long day in Tangiers, Luis collected us from the ferry, helped us get our luggage from the hotel and drove us back to Seville. It was a long day with late hours and Luis always stayed in an upbeat mood. Highly recommend VIP Malaga!

Not something I’d rush to do - A tale of two halves. So this was an all rather strange experience., I’ve booked as a solo traveller and was excited for my trap from Seville to Tangier. Pick up was early at around 7:45 am, and I was collected and driven to the ferry port in Tarifa. This was done and a lovely Mercedes van and the driver was amazing. Arrived at the port and was given return tickets for the ferry and the ferry journey is done on your own. I arrived in Tangier and having never been there before, was not aware of the meeting place. But after a few calls was able to locate my tour guide for the day. The tour guides was kind and helpful. But a little strange, as I had not eaten, I asked to go to eat restaurant or coffee just for something quick because I was aware was a full on day. After being taken to a place that my tour guide loved, we went onto through some backstreets to pick up the car for the start of my tour This is where it gets a little odd, instead of being any private car or van, we jumped into a local taxi and the tour was done by taxi We stopped many places an order for me to take some photos, and please do not be mistaken. The things that I saw on this whistlestop tour was beautiful. But the tour itself was extremely strange. We stopped at many sports including places such as Hercules cave, the Kasbah, cafe haha for mint tea etc. I also was given the chance to ride a camel. As this was just a day trip, each part was a pretty quick stop. The tour guides highlighted things to me such as international supermarkets (carrefour) and large hotels, such as the Hilton, which was a little odd Every place we went, he paid a small talking to the people that were clearly hosting us. After being in the taxi for a few hours, we were to go for some food and this was to be traditional Moroccan food. Unfortunately, place that we went to (which I believe, was a friend of the tour guide) served me, cold and bland food, which I was quite disappointed with After food, we had an hour in order for us to go and look at the shops for some souvenirs, I mentioned that I would like to look at rugs after all handmade Moroccan rugs is where it’s at I was taken to a large store that was on many levels, and I was passed over to a very aggressive salesman who was wanting to show me has wares. After showing me around 30 Carpets and trying to charge me €3500, he haggled with me to try to buy this carpet, even though I told her many times this isn’t something I was wanting to buy, I made an excuse about coming back in March in order to stop him going on and on about the sale. I thought I had left his clutches and Wondered to another part of the store, where I was looking at some chests and large urns. Once again, the aggressive friend the tour guide was by my side, trying to get a sale out of me, it was hugely uncomfortable, and I ended up buying a chest that I could barely carry in order to leave the store. I was then taken to a spice store. Which again seem to be chosen, because this was a friend of the tour guide. I bought a few things there there was less hassle, but I still feel like the tours guided around making sure it was his friends that we visited rather than places. I may be interested in I was taking back to the ferry at 6 pm for the 7 pm ferry Few points to note, as I was a solo traveller, my overall costs for the day was almost $1500, considering this was a taxi, Journey, I most definitely could’ve done that myself for around a 10th of the cost The reason I gave three stars is because the driver who collected me from Seville to Tarifa and returned, was amazing. Very attentive full of knowledge and generally good company. The tickets for the ferry were basic tickets, but didn’t even have a seat reservation, There was no provision for any food other than the very late lunch in Tangier, which was at around 4 pm. Travelling in a taxi around Tangier was hugely strange I don’t recommend this. The trip itself provided some amazing photos, but in all honesty, I booked these in order to feel safe and looked after, and I came away, feeling like I had been hounded, and I still can’t get over the fact that my private tour was on a Moroccan taxi driver friend of the tour guide and a beat up Taxi Avoid

NOT AS ADVERTISED!!! - We were a family group of four adults, ages 29-59, with one bad ankle and another severely arthritic hip. We chose this particular tour largely because the estimated 11 hours sounded manageable, if we paced ourselves. Our actual ordeal took 14 hours. Javi was a delightful driver to the ferry in Tarifa. However, once we were dropped off, our experience went downhill fast. The ferries to and from Tangier were not at all accessible: there were steep stairs to climb, and over an hour spent standing in various lines, on both sailings. (Of course the tour operator has no control over the ferry situation, but they should provide a more accurate preview of what to expect.) In Tangier, our driver Abdul did not take us all the way to the Hercules Caves, nor did we receive a Moroccan lunch. In fact, we didn't stop for any kind of food until two-plus hours after our arrival, despite repeated requests. When the driver finally let us buy some takeaway food, we were given no time to eat, and nowhere to throw away the trash. As for the walking tour, it was just a big grift. Kareem rushed us through the Kasbah, pushing us to hurry over uneven cobblestones just to keep up with him, and he denied our requests to slow down, sit, and avoid stairs. He didn't allow us any time to browse the shops or buy souvenirs, preferring instead to steer us to only two specific shops for high-pressure sales pitches (which Kareem called "cultural presentations.") He flat-out lied to us about one of the shops, telling us it was some kind of government repository for "the arts," and saying there were only a few steps. In fact, it was just an aggressive rug seller, and he was up an entire flight of stairs. The salesman claimed to be selling hand-knotted rugs, when they were obviously machine-made. Despite apparently being in such a hurry, Kareem found time to ask my husband to pay for a relative's medical treatment. For some reason, disembarkation of the return ferry required close to an hour of standing in line, with no accommodations for disabilities. When we finally emerged - tired, frustrated, and in pain - Javi was waiting for us, but he put us on the spot by asking us to accept a hitchhiker in our private excursion. (We declined!) The next day, our arthritic traveler was in so much pain she couldn't even get out of bed. The rest of us were too exhausted to participate in two Viator walking tours which we had already paid for. The tour operator never responded to my request for a refund, just forwarded my complaint to Viator customer support. After multiple requests, Viator grudgingly refunded just 10% of the tour price. In short, the experience was not what we paid for. We will never book with this tour operator again.
