Highlights
- Tahtakaracha Pass - Shakhrisabz, known as the “Green City,” is the birthplace of the legendary Tamerlane and one of Uzbekistan’s oldest regions. En route from Samarkand to Shakhrisabz, we will pause at the “Tahtakaracha Pass” to capture photos of some of the region’s most stunning mountain scenery.
- Ak Saray Palace - This “White Castle” is the only remaining palace of Timur, constructed over more than 20 years by thousands of craftsmen from across the Empire. The palace is entirely adorned with mosaic from bottom to top.
- Dorut Tilovat - This site houses the mausoleum of Timur’s mentor, his father, and the prophet’s descendants, along with a mosque built in the 15th century.
- Dorus-Saodat Mausoleum - This mausoleum is the final resting place of Timur’s favorite and eldest son, the heir to the Empire’s throne.
- Crypt of Tamerlan - Although Timur intended to be buried here, his sudden death led to his burial in Samarkand. The crypt he prepared for himself remains preserved, albeit empty.
