Wukang Road - The Wukang Mansion on Wukang Road is a notable landmark, designed by the esteemed Hungarian-Slovak architect László Hudec (1893–1958). Shaped like a massive vessel, it was the most renowned English-style building in Shanghai during the 1930s. Spend half a day strolling along Wukang Road for a unique Shanghai experience.

Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - Nestled in downtown Shanghai, Yu Garden is a collection of ancient buildings with a history spanning over 400 years. Originally a private garden from the Ming Dynasty, it was constructed during the Jiajing period. The garden boasts grand scale and picturesque scenery, featuring numerous historical buildings and cultural relics. It’s also an excellent spot to purchase traditional handicrafts and savor Shanghai cuisine.

Shanghai Tower - Located in the heart of Shanghai’s CBD, Lujiazui Financial Zone, Shanghai Tower is an impressive skyscraper with 127 floors above ground and 5 below. You will have the opportunity to ascend to the top and enjoy a panoramic view of Shanghai’s city center.

Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - Nanjing Road is Shanghai’s primary shopping street and the world’s longest shopping district, stretching around 6 km and attracting over 1 million visitors daily. Tourists often celebrate various holidays here, such as Chinese New Year and New Year’s Eve. Some buildings and malls along Nanjing Road may host fireworks displays. The area is home to Shanghai’s oldest and largest department stores, numerous domestic retail outlets, and traditional eateries with rich histories.

The Bund - The Bund is a captivating boulevard where time is preserved through its architecture. Featuring 22 stunning buildings designed by renowned architects, it is a magnificent showcase of modern China. From here, you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Building, Shanghai World Finance Center, and Shanghai Tower. With historical architecture on one side and a futuristic cityscape on the other, this is a must-see experience in Shanghai.

Shanghai - Beijing high-speed rail travel

Wangfujing Street - Known as the “Golden Street” of Beijing, Wangfujing Walking Street is a famous commercial area with a history spanning over a hundred years. Tongshenghe is renowned for its cloth shoes and caps, with many Chinese celebrities having custom-made their shoes here. Visitors can also order tailor-made shoes. Wuyutai Tea Shop, with over 120 years of history, is famous for its jasmine tea, which is believed to regulate vital energy and soothe the nerves. Donglaishun Restaurant, established in 1903, is famous for its mutton hot pot, while Quanjude is the most renowned roast duck restaurant in China, offering a must-try experience for visitors to Beijing.

Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - Located in the heart of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is one of China’s most iconic landmarks. It has witnessed numerous significant events, including the declaration of the People’s Republic of China by Chairman Mao Zedong in 1949. The square continues to play a crucial role as China’s political and cultural center, hosting national celebrations, state ceremonies, and diplomatic events. The annual flag-raising ceremony on National Day and elaborate floral displays during important national events are just a few examples of its ongoing significance.

Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - The Forbidden City, located in central Beijing, is a palace complex that served as the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty (1420-1912). It houses the Palace Museum and was the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for nearly 500 years. Constructed from 1406 to 1420, the complex includes 980 buildings and covers 72 hectares (over 180 acres). It exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture and has influenced cultural and architectural developments in East Asia and beyond. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, it is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world. Visitors will explore the Forbidden City, where emperors ruled, concubines fluttered their fans, and eunuchs schemed for five centuries.

The Temple Of Heaven - Located in southern Beijing, the Temple of Heaven was first constructed in 1420. It was where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped the god of heaven and prayed for good harvests. Covering 273 hectares, it is the world’s largest architectural complex for rituals to pay homage to heaven. The structure includes the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Three Echo Stones, where visitors can experience unique acoustic phenomena. The Echo Wall, with a perimeter of 193 meters, allows whispers to be heard clearly from opposite ends, utilizing sound wave theory.

Juyongguan Great Wall - Spend half a day visiting the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall, one of the world’s greatest wonders and a symbol of the Chinese nation. Built during the Qin Dynasty and expanded during the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall stretches about 21,196.18 kilometers, with sections dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty. It served as a defense system, combining walls with cities, barriers, pavilions, and markers, and represents the ingenuity and labor of ancient Chinese people. The Juyongguan section, known as “the First Pass Under Heaven,” is a famous ancient segment of the Great Wall in northern Beijing.

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - The Summer Palace is considered the best-preserved imperial garden in the world and the largest of its kind in China. Most visitors spend at least half a day exploring its many attractions. Listed as a World Heritage Site in 1998, UNESCO describes the Summer Palace as “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design.” Initially built in 1750, it was damaged in 1860 and restored in 1886. The garden features pavilions, halls, corridors, temples, and bridges, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding hills and lake, creating a landscape of outstanding aesthetic value. Known as the “Imperial Garden Museum,” it preserves national heritage material.

Local life in Beijing

Lama Temple (Yonghegong) - Located in the northeast corner of downtown Beijing, the Lama Temple is known as a “dragon’s hidden blessing place” due to its association with two Qing Dynasty emperors. Featuring yellow tiles and red walls, it comprises three exquisite archways and five grand halls, representing the pinnacle of Oriental aesthetics. It is the highest-ranked Buddhist temple in China during the mid to late Qing Dynasty and the most thriving temple in Beijing. Visitors can pray for academic and career success, as well as blessings related to marriage and health. The temple also offers beautifully crafted bracelets made from incense ashes, which are often in high demand.

Hutong Tour - The hutongs are a defining feature of Beijing, offering a unique experience of the city’s culture. Wander through these narrow, tree-lined lanes, meet locals, and discover artsy cafes and boutiques. Elderly residents often sit outside their homes playing Mahjong or entertaining grandchildren. The streets are filled with the sounds of bicycle bells and the aromas of street food, such as ‘jian bing’ (savory Chinese crepes) and ‘chuan’ (lamb skewers). Around the corner, you can find Peking Duck roasted over applewood, a traditional method passed down through generations.

ShiChaHai ChaYi JiuBa Jie (HouMen) - Shichahai Park consists of three water areas—Qianhai, Houhai, and Xihai (Jishuitan)—and their surrounding areas, collectively known as “Hou Sanhai.” It is one of the most beautiful spots in old Beijing, historically home to numerous temples, earning it the nickname “Ten Temples by the Lakes.” The area features typical hutongs and traditional courtyards, shaded by lush trees and intersected by winding paths. It is a popular destination for locals to enjoy boating in summer and ice skating in winter.
