Shanghai Museum - Begin the day with a visit to the Shanghai Museum (closed every Monday). The guide and driver will meet the group in the hotel lobby around 8:30 (pickup time will be confirmed prior to departure). The museum boasts millions of artifacts, with a special focus on bronze wares, porcelain, paintings, and calligraphy. The guide will lead a tour to explore Chinese history.

Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - Next, visit Yuyuan Garden, a quintessential example of classical Chinese gardens featuring elegant pavilions, ancient bridges, artistic rockeries, and serene ponds. Originally constructed by Pan Yunduan in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty for his parents’ enjoyment in their later years, the garden has a rich history spanning over 400 years. It was neglected after Pan Yunduan’s death, restored by new owners, damaged during the Opium War, and reopened in 1961 after extensive repairs.

Nearby, the bustling Yuyuan Market, including the renowned City God Temple (Cheng Huang Miao), offers a variety of traditional Chinese crafts like chopsticks, fans, and pottery, as well as local treats such as steamed buns, crab shell cake, and pork chop with rice cakes. Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - Stroll along Nanjing Road, Shanghai’s oldest and most famous shopping street, offering a view of the city’s impressive skyline.

The Bund (Wai Tan) - Continue walking along Nanjing Road to reach the Bund Area, a must-visit for anyone sightseeing in Shanghai.

Jade Buddha Temple - After lunch (at personal expense), visit the centuries-old Jade Buddha Temple, built to house two jade Buddha statues brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen.

Xintiandi - The next stop is Xintiandi, a vibrant area for leisure and entertainment, featuring shops and bars converted from Shikumen houses.

Former French Concession - Visit the Shanghai French Concession, which reflects the city’s unique history from the 1850s to the 1920s, showcasing numerous Western-style buildings.

The tour concludes with a visit to the silk market to explore the rich history of Chinese silk culture and view exquisite silk products. There is an option to skip this part of the tour by selecting the (No-shopping) option when booking.

Wukang Road - Continue the city walk to Wukang Road, a historic street in Shanghai known for its collection of European-style architecture from the 1920s and 30s. Lined with plane trees, it offers a scenic and peaceful retreat, highlighting the city’s vibrant cultural heritage.

Jin Mao Tower - Jin Mao Tower, a 420.5-meter-tall, 88-story iconic skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai, was completed in 1999 and was once China’s tallest building. Its pagoda-inspired design merges traditional Chinese architecture with modern style, housing offices, a shopping mall, and the Grand Hyatt Shanghai.
