The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is situated on the banks of the Huangpu River, with the modern Lujiazui area as its backdrop and the Bund International Architecture Expo Group across the river. Construction commenced on July 30, 1991, and the tower was completed and opened for use on October 1, 1994. It stands as one of Shanghai’s iconic structures, offering urban sightseeing, trendy dining, shopping, entertainment, historical exhibits, Pujiang tours, exhibition performances, and radio and television broadcasting. As of 2019, it ranks as the sixth tallest tower in Asia and the ninth tallest in the world.
