Shanghai Zoo is a large-scale state-level zoo. There are more than 400 species of animals, such as giant pandas, golden monkeys, South China tigers, Manchurian tigers, Yangtze alligators, elks, but also animals from all over the world, such as giraffe, kangaroo, penguin, hippopotamus, sea lion and the like.
You will visit the giant pandas and learn some common knowledge about animals. The giant panda area is fan-shaped, where an indoor exhibition area and an outside playground can be seen. You can watch the panda’s every movement. -
Xintiandi - Then, we will transfer to Former French Concession and admire the Sikumen style old houses at Xintiandi.
Xintiandi is a tourist attraction that preserves the historical and cultural features of Shanghai and integrates Chinese and western culture. Xintiandi is divided into northern and southern parts. The south is dominated by modern architecture. The north is dominated by Shikumen old buildings. Composed of Shikumen and modern architectural style, now it has become a hot and fashionable pedestrian street in the center of the city. Actually, it stands for the popular and leisurely life style of this city’s new generation. The outdoor cafes, bars and romantic restaurants can be seen everywhere.
Then, we will visit Shikumen Museum and learn about the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.
- Shikumen Museum, Shanghai - It is an old shikumen house built in the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. The museum was built according to the model of one household in the 1920s. There are seven main exhibition rooms, namely, the guest room, the study room, the old people’s room, the master room, the daughter room, the pavilion room and the oven room. The story of a shikumen family runs through the whole visit. It not only shows the unique shikumen architectural culture of Shanghai, but also reproduces the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.
Later, we will walk to Yunnan Road. There is a street filled with great little eateries, definitely a good place for a quick bite. We will have some free time to explore the area and have lunch (own expense).
According to your preference, your guide will recommend a place to eat, which could be a small local eatery or elegant cuisine restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will transfer to People’s Square, visit Shanghai History Museum and admire the facade of various significant edifices around People’s Square.

People’s Square (Renmin Guang Chang) - Shanghai People’s Square is located at the very center of Shanghai and is the demarcation point of East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road. It is a flourishing place for people to look around.
Before 1949, the area of Shanghai People’s Square and the People’s Park was used as a famous horse racetrack which was built in 1861, honored as the ‘No.1 Racetrack in Far East’. Visitors still can find the ruins for the former main building standing at the northeast part of the People’s Square.
We can see many scenic spots around people’s square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai History Museum and Mu’en Church. -
Shanghai Grand Theater - We will admire the facade of Shanghai Grand Theater.
Shanghai Grand Theater is uniquely designed and beautifully shaped. It combines western and Chinese architectural styles perfectly. The white arched vault sets off glass curtain walls like a crystal palace.
Then, we will visit Shanghai History Museum to learn about Shanghai 6000 years civilization.

Dedicated to the history of Shanghai, the museum houses more than a thousand relics and chronicles 6000 years of history from the region. If you have ever wondered what Old Shanghai was like, you can find the answer at Shanghai History Museum. Divided into two sections – Ancient Shanghai and Modern Shanghai, the museum traces the political, social, economic and cultural evolution of the city from 4000BC to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
Then, we will wander in the Bund to see the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles and modern skyscrapers.
- The Bund (Wai Tan) - The Bund is a famous waterfront on the west bank of Huangpu River and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai. Here, the charm of Shanghai as a bustling metropolis combining the century-old history and flourishing future is fully presented, making the Bund Shanghai a must-see attraction. We will see the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles at the Bund. Such as Peace Hotel(Heping Fandian), Shanghai Customs House and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. We also can appreciate skyscrapers across the Huangpu River.
- The Bund City Sculptures - We will see the Bund City Sculptures, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Huangpu Park and Waibaidu Bridge.

Heping Fandian - Heping Fandian, also known as the Peace Hotel. It has South Building and North Building.
South Building
It has a brick veneer structure, with the six storeys reaching 30 meters in height. The exterior is in a Renaissance style. The architects placed a strong accent on color and finished the building in their locally interpreted Victorian Renaissance’ design.
North Building
It is the former Sassoon House, built in 1929. The total height is 77 meters. It featured extensive use of straight lines in the exterior, with decorative patterns at pediments and eaves. Most of the building features granite facing, with the ninth floor and the roof surfaced with terracotta. The eastern façade, facing the Huangpu River and the Bund, features a pyramidal roof with steep sides and a height of about 10 meters.
