Shanghai Tower - One of the most thrilling activities in Shanghai is enjoying a panoramic view from the top of a tall building. You can choose between the Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The Shanghai Tower boasts the world’s highest observation deck (1,844 feet or 562 meters). Visitors can see other skyscrapers below them, appearing small from the top of the Shanghai Tower. It is the tallest building in China and the third tallest in the world, with 128 stories and a height of 2,073 feet (632 meters). However, the best views are on clear days. If it’s misty or foggy, it’s advisable to visit another day.

Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu) - This is an alternative for a panoramic view of Shanghai from a tall building. You can choose between the Shanghai Tower or this one. The tower is an iconic landmark and a popular attraction in Shanghai. The best photo of the Oriental Pearl Tower can be taken from the Bund, which you will visit soon.

Shanghai World Financial Center - Located near the Shanghai Tower and not far from the Oriental Pearl Tower. You won’t just pass by it; if you visit the Shanghai Tower, you’ll walk in front of this tall building and capture a great close-up photo.

Huangpu River - A landmark of Shanghai, dividing the city into Pudong and Puxi. A stroll along the Huangpu River at the Bund is a must-do in Shanghai.

The Bund (Wai Tan) - The most popular attraction in Shanghai, the Bund is a waterfront area and a protected historical district in central Shanghai. It usually refers to the buildings and wharves on a section of Zhongshan East No.1 Road. The promenade offers a close-up view of the beautiful old colonial buildings in the former Shanghai International Settlement. One side of the Huangpu River features high-tech futuristic skyscrapers, while the other side showcases 19th-century colonial architecture. Bund International Architecture Exhibition - The buildings feature Western architecture and are well-maintained by the Chinese government. There are over 50 buildings on the west bank of the Huangpu River, with the Peace Hotel being a highlight.

Riverside Promenade (Bingjiang Da Dao) - A stroll on the waterfront Promenade on the Bund is a must in Shanghai. It offers the best view of the “old” part of Shanghai with colonial European architecture on the near side, and the “new” part of Shanghai with ultra-modern Chinese architecture on the far side of the river. You can see the architectural contrast between the new and old.

The Bund City Sculptures - Several sculptures are located on the Bund, including a large bronze bull on “Chinese Wall Street,” inspired by the one on Wall Street in New York City.

Heping Fandian - The Peace Hotel is a distinctive historic building, a living museum of a bygone era. It’s worth visiting to see the interior.

Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - The Peace Hotel is located at the intersection of Nanjing Lu and Zhongshan East No.1 Road on the Bund.

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town - Often referred to as the “Venice of Shanghai,” Zhujiajiao Ancient Town is a historic water town in the Qingpu District with a history spanning over 1,700 years. It is renowned for its well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architecture, network of canals, and 36 stone bridges.
