Informative Tour of Old and New - I was picked up from my hotel by a very kind young man named Jason who would be our driver for the day. We met our guide, Daniel in the Financial District which included a walk along the river and an explanation of the architecture and history of the area. Daniel was quite knowledgeable and we took photo opportunities along the promenade and near the famous Bull representing the Bull Market of Shanghai. We also entered one of the largest buildings on the Bund. It is currently a bank and the beautiful aesthetics have been preserved for over 100 years. The next adventure was to The Observation Deck of the Shanghai Financial Building which began construction in 2005. Looking over the city from the 97th floor was spectacular. With several floor tiles made of glass, there were a few breathtaking moments as you glanced at the world below. Our final visit was to the Ancient City of Zhujiajiao. It was a step back in time for sure with vendors selling their wares, specialty shops, tea houses and restaurants. There was quite a crowd here as well with gondola rides available along the river that divides the area from North and South. The lunch was good and plentiful. I enjoyed my adventure from Old Way meets New Way. I recommend Daniel and Jason as two kind conscientious young men sharing their heritage and culture with the world.
