- Dongshan Township - Visit a local farmer’s home and learn to make wonton. Wonton (馄饨) dates back over 2000 years to the Han Dynasty. The wonton wrapper is thinner than that of dumplings and appears translucent after cooking. Today, wontons have different names in various regions. For instance, in Sichuan Province, they are called Chaoshou (抄手), while in Shanghai, southern Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces, they are referred to as “wěn tēn,” similar to the Cantonese pronunciation.
