Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - On the first day of the itinerary, you will begin with the drive from Moshi to Machame Gate (5,381ft) which takes approximately 45 minutes. The Machame Gate is starting point of the climb which is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.This entrance point lies high above the Machame Village in the south and it takes 5-7 hours of steep ascent from Machame Gate (5,381ft) to Machame Camp (9,301ft) with only 8-9 hours of sleep.
Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - On the second day, the trek continues from Machame camp(9,301ft) to Shira Cave Camp(12,598ft). You will ascend through the last section of the rainforest zone to moorland zone. This trek involve the hiking along a rocky ridge for several hours before reaching Shira Camp for overnight.
Shira Cave Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - This day-3 is a tough one as it involve climbing from Shira Cave Camp(12,598ft) up to an altitude of (15,223ft) at Lava Tower. Then descend to Barranco Camp (12,959ft) for overnight. This trek takes approximately 5-8 hours to complete.
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp(Base Camp)
Mount Kilimanjaro - The today’s trek, you will ascend from Baranco Camp (12,959ft)to Karanga Camp (13,238ft) to the mount Kilimanjaro Base Camp, Barafu Camp at (15,354ft).
In order to get to the Karanga Camp, you will have to cross over the Baranco wall and the Karanga Valley ridges. This trek is a bit challenging especially at “Kiss Stone Point” on the Barranco Wall however, all the climbers usually conqer this section by the help of our proffessional guides.
To get to Barafu Camp, you will cross over the trail which connects with the Mweka route. The todays climb is moderate as it takes 3-4 hours to complete. you will spend the rest of the day at Barafu camp. Here, you will get an early dinner and prepare for the summit attempt which starts in the mid-night at 12:00pm.
Barafu Camp to Uhuru peak (Summit Point) to Millenium Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - On the sixth day, you will walk steadly from Barafu camp (15,354ft) to the summit point of mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m or 19,341ft) known as Uhuru Peak. Then descend back to Barafu Camp. The trek starts around 12:00pm. From that, you will take the northwest direction and ascend through a heavy scree towards the crater rim at Stella point. At stella point, you will take about 15 minutes break before you headoff to Uhuru peak. Getting to Uhuru peak, means you are at the highest point over the whole African continent where you will be rewarded with the beatiful sunrise before descending to Barafu camp. Thereafter, you will rest for 2 hours at Barafu camp where you will take lunch and descend to Millenium Camp for the last dinner and last overnight in the Mountain.
Millenium Camp to Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Kilimanjaro National Park - This is the last day of Unforgettable 6 days Machame route Kilimanjaro climbing (trekking). You will start at Millenium Camp and proceed to mweka camp( 10,104ft) then descend through the rainforest zone to Mweka Gate (5,380ft). This hike takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Upon arrival at Mweka gate, you will be rewarded with Kilimanjaro summit certificates before being driven back to Moshi for overnight stay.
