Canyon trip - Dahab - Overall the trip was great. The guide was amazing and cared about satisfaction and safety of the entire group. No one was forced to participate in activities they didn’t want to. The issue was when we were splint into 2 groups at the snorkeling place and we were waiting for the other group more than 1h. Canyon was really nice and worth seeing (not colorful as pictures show).

An 11 hour trip with two, short highlights. - Unfortunately, because we were the first hotel for pick up, our day started early at 7:15 (Not 8am as stated in the advert) it took about an hour to collect the others and then it’s a 90min trip with a short break for toilet/smoking stop! The first actual stop is a snorkelling higher centre. This takes another 30–40 minutes though luckily we had brought our own snorkelling gear. We stopped right on the coast and folks jumped on the camel ride. My son and I weren’t interested in that so looked through the litter-strewn rocks for interesting beetles. The Snorkelling site is not for beginners! Luckily my son and I are good swimmers and used to snorkelling, so we kind of did our own thing but it was extremely windy (our guide said that 25 days out of 30 are strong winds here and it’s a popular destination for kite surfers… And he wasn’t wrong!) There were big waves and a lot of people had clearly never been in this sort of water before. The reef is pretty, though not much better than the best reefs around Sharm, though my son and I did see a pair of clownfish in their anemone , which most of the others could not reach due to the waves. Given the number of people entering and being buffeted around, I fear that the reef won’t last very long. 40 minutes in the water was plenty as it is definitely a little colder than at Sharm El Sheikh. We regretted not taking our wetsuits, but I guess they are keen to have things hired All the different groups piled into various little restaurants just adjacent to the sea. Simple lunch was provided though for some reason they insisted on trying to serve my son a chicken nugget type thing rather than an actual piece of chicken like the rest of us and drinks are not included. The stop in dab town was actually a stop at a little tourist Emporium that again took over an hour. My son and I chose to do our own thing but again it took a lot of time if you weren’t really really interested in buying anything and we certainly didn’t see any of dab. Finally, It was on to the” Canyon”. It’s a pretty drive through the Rocky, Sinai landscape (ignoring the litter blowing around) and the last 10 minutes are done in an off-road Jeep. The canyon itself is actually a sandstone gully, which although pretty, is nothing like the picture advertising the trip-I’m not sure that that is anywhere near where we went or at least was taken after some (apparently extremely rare) rainfall and in a deeper section that we did not visit. There were not any pools. The walk, even with time spent looking for beetles and lizards, lasted about 40 minutes and then it’s an hour plus home. I’ll driver was great and Mahmoud, our guide, was well informed and helpful. Not his fault but personally I would not recommend this trip as it could probably be done in half a day and as stated, unless you are a confident snorkeler or happen to go on one of the few calm days, be careful in the water!
