Petra is breathtaking. The guide on the Egyptian side was terrible. - Petra is incredible. I would thoroughly recommend going to see it and although it's a long journey from Sharm, it's well worth it. While our guide on the Jordanian side was excellent, our trip was marred by the guide on the Egyptian side who took us from our hotels to the port at Taba. He was completely unsuited to the role. The problems started when the microphone on the coach from our hotels wasn't working. We told him a couple of times that we couldn't hear him, at which point he became really rude. We were completely unclear as to what would happen at Taba, what boat to get on and how we would find out guide on the Jordanian side. The information he gave us about ferry tickets was wrong. He distributed tickets and I asked him how we would get the return ferry ticket. As it turns out, they were distributed on the Jordanian side but we weren't to know this. He told me that he had given them to me and that I had lost them. He then told me that our Egypt exit form was the return ticket, which was clearly nonsense. He wasn't sure of the name of the guide at Aqaba for us to find. The name he gave us turned out to be completely wrong. My wife challenged him on the dreadful service he provided and he became borderline aggressive. The whole experience was really uncomfortable. This was the person who we were relying on to take my family (including two children) from one country to another where we don't speak the local language. The whole journey from Sharm up to Aqaba (which is pretty long) was really horrible and unduly stressful. From the point we arrived in Jordan, we had a great day and all went smoothly on the Jordanian side, however I feel compelled to give this rating on account of what was a genuinely unpleasant experience on the Egyptian side which contrasted with virtually everything else we saw on our holiday in Sharm.
