Glad we had the pleasure of visiting. - Fantastic place however it wasn't signed very well inside so it was very easy to get lost. Scones & drinks were expensive for what it was. I picked up a lot of energy there, had a feeling of being strangled, head hurt and general feelings of spirit activity. I also kept getting the name Jacob if anyone working here would know if that was a residing prisoner that passed there? I'm not sure how long this place will carry on being open due to the very bad black mould and soaking wet walls, doors etc. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Cultural & historical worthy visit! - We went there on a windy and wet Sunday as a last minute change of plan. We paid for a full-guided tour and were not sure that our teens would be interested but our tour guide, Jason, managed to tell anecdotes and stories to keep our children focused with his clear, loud speech and history knowledge of the place. We all enjoyed the time spent without feeling pressured within our group of visitors. You could wandering around to read or see some parts of the prison you may have missed afterwards if you wish to.

An excellent family experience - Fascinating self guided tour with our two children and our two dogs. Flick was very helpful and knowledgeable answering lots of questions at the end. Highly recommend a few hours to see and read everything. If you have dogs with you, it’s fine for them although be prepared to carry them down a staircase or two as they can be steep with open steps. Will be going back!

Excellent - I would definitely recommend the guided tour, although I found it very informative I felt it was a little rushed and overpriced, (personal opinion is all) there were 13 of us in our tour. The staff are very friendly and all have wonderful knowledge of the prisons history. I enjoyed that you can walk around by yourselves after the tour had finished, as your tickets are for the whole day. They have a small souvenir area, although mostly related to the Hauntings. There is a small area where you can have lunch and a little kiosk where you can purchase drinks. Overall I would rate this as an excellent venue to visit and would absolutely go back - although not on the guided tour!

Half term - We booked onto the Super Detective activity with self guided tour. The prison itself was fantastic, so interesting and loads of clue activities to keep the children entertained. Daughter enjoyed the super detective activity but we felt it was a bit flat as just ourselves and another family sat in a make shift classroom filling in an activity book - wished we booked an escape room instead!
