Proceed to Ximending Commercial District, one of the busiest shopping areas in Taipei, filled with retail shops, restaurants, bars, and street performers. This area is very popular among young people, often referred to as the Taipei version of Tokyo’s Harajuku’s Takeshita Street. (lunch on your own arrangement)

• Longshan Temple - After lunch in Ximending, visit Lungshan Temple to experience Taiwan’s religious practices, where locals go to pray for good luck or find inner peace.

The temple, built in 1738 and dedicated to Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy), was severely damaged during the Taipei Air Raid, but the statue of Guanyin survived.

Besides the Goddess of Mercy, the temple honors Yue Lao (the Matchmaker God), Wenchang Dijun (the God of Literature), Songzi Niangniang (the maiden who brings children), and many more. Visitors can pray for themselves and their families, and even seek advice from the gods by tossing divination blocks.
