Great tour with lots of stops - The tour guides were very professional and friendly. Excellent collection of stops to see. We loved seeing Mt. Fuji without a lot of walking. It was a Japanese holiday, so there was a lot of traffic, but the bullet train tickets were for any time, so everything worked out.

Cloud Break! - There wa a light rain and cloudy when we arrived in Mt Fuji so we have not seen the mountain up close but we were all in awe when there wa a cloud break when we were in the cable car and saw the tip of Mt Fuji. Worth the wait.

THANKYOU VIATOR - A tour providing me with experiences I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life - (1) The issue-free tour bus trip up to Mt Fuji station 5 which provided spectacular views of outer-city/ country-side forested mountain ranges and rural population settlements. This, together with our short, but sufficient stop-over at station 5 which, even after encountering cloudy weather conditions hiding the mountain peak, still proved me with a rewarding experience (2) The issue-free visit to the Owakudani Valley proved to be a very eye-opening experience as I viewed and smelled the sulphurised gasses escaping from the surrounding ground fissures. This, together with the enjoyable gondola ride and Lake Ashi pirate ship cruise was better than I had expected. (3) A stopover at a restaurant providing an enjoyable all-you-can-eat buffet meal definitely satisfied my hunger pains although in my opinion, the allocated in-restaurant time was insufficient to allow for both eating and chatting with other present tour bus passengers. Notwithstanding this, I can honestly say that the whole full day tour was not only excellent value for money, but was also conducted in a very professional, safe and caring manner. My 100% complements to the tour driver (name unrecalled), the english speaking tour guide (went by the name of Happy) and her assistant (name unrecalled).

Nice tour when the weather is nice and not too much traffic - When you book this trip, you must realize that the weather sometimes doesn't help. As it was a national holiday the day I went, we had a lot of traffic on the road and were delayed. Therefore we had to hurry at all sides, to make it until the end. Unfortunately it was clouded at the top, so we experienced Mnt Fuji without actually seeing it. Part of the deal, not to blame Viator ;-)!

Good all day tour - Everything was rushed, except for the last part of the tour, only because the original stop was closed due to high winds, and the alternative tour stop was close to the harbor. As for Lunch it was ok for my husband, but not okay with me. The tour guides and driver was great. This was my second time on this tour so for me it was comparable to my first, So to sum it up, besides being rushed, the last tour site being closed, traffic to Mount Fuji was backed up, and lunch was blah. I'd give it 7.

See Fuji - We were able to see Mt Fuji , which we understand is sometimes a rare event. The trip was more of a bus tour with long rides between sites. We had adequate time at Mt Fuji, and we assumed the Rope Way etc were at the base or close to the Mt. they were over 1 1/2 hour bus ride which made for a hectic and hurried schedule. The guide had a difficult type since there were almost forty people on the bus. Make sure to take Bullet Train option. It gets you back much quicker. All in All we saw what the trip said we would see but at a rapid pace. The inclusion of the extra sites make for a long day on a bus. Would not do this again.

Don’t take this trip. Save your day for Tokyo. - Our guide was terrific! (Hidé). However, the trip itself was pretty awful. We were told that day that traffic was extra bad due to a holiday. We spent over 7 hours riding in the bus, plus train ride. A half hour stop at station 5 (Mt Fuji), 40 minutes for lunch and then the boat ride. We had to skip the rope way, which was what we were most excited about. We paid for it though. I’m expecting a refund. So we basically paid $150 per person for a 7.5 hour bus trip, under an hour on a boat (could have skipped this) and the train ride home. It was a waste of a day we could have had in Tokyo. I do want to say that our guide was trying his best to keep it interesting with trivia and teaching some basic kanji. He was kind and knowledgeable.

Horrible - This excursion was a complete nightmare. We have gone on countless excursions throughout the years in many different countries and this one was definitely the worst by far. This is why I would like to warn others about it and will provide details to illustrate what happened. First of all, it was next to impossible to understand our guide, he should have never been assigned to an English speaking tour. Secondly, the tour was completely disorganized. We did know that it was a holiday weekend and the traffic was expected, so we were glad that the tour started an hour earlier to beat it. However, spending the whole day on the bus with two short stops, one of which was a bathroom stop and the other 30 minutes on the mountain Fuji where all we could see was just several souvenir shops was quite disappointing. However, since it was my second time visiting Hakone, I knew that the best part was still ahead. We were scheduled to take Hakone Roapway which leads to a breathtaking Owakudani area with volcanic steam vents, black eggs and so on. Imagine our shock when our guide decided to skip the Roapway altogether because we had a 15 minute delay due to someone getting sick on the bus. We complained but the guide said he decided that we should go straight to the lake boat ride as it was getting late. The boat ride was fine but absolutely was not worth wasting the whole day on the bus for. A final straw was our guide dropping us off at the train station after unsuccessfully trying to explain which train to take. The guide was rushing to get rid of us and sounded quite unpleasant when we tried to clarify where to go. Fortunately several of us got together and figured out what to do on our own. Finally I would like to thank Viator which promptly responded to our complaint and even partially reimbursed us for this trip. However, local HIS tour company did not bother to even respond to our complaint. Do not waste your time and money on this trip.

Don’t waste your time or money! - Extremely disappointed with this tour. Left early as suggested. A whole day on a bus and we got to spend 20 min at the 5th station; missed two of the other stops on the itinerary; not a single bottle of water offered; a full English speaking tour and while a gentlemen, poor choice of guide for this group. To be fair, lunch was very good. Have seen the many “apologies for the inconvenience” responses on the online reviews. Not good enough and I don’t want to receive one if these. Does not deliver anything near what is promised. Could write a whole page on what a waste of time and money this was. Not good enough.
