Highlights
  • Shinjuku Ale - Do you know what takoyaki is?

Here, you can experience grilling and eating takoyaki yourself!

Takoyaki is made by pouring flour batter made from water and eggs into a round hole in a griddle, then placing a chopped octopus inside and grilling it into a round shape. The finished takoyaki is placed on a plate and served hot and delicious. The basic style of takoyaki is to dip it in dried bonito flakes, aonori (green laver), sauce, or mayonnaise. Takoyaki is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Takoyaki is easy to eat and goes well with beer.

The takoyaki experience ends when you finish eating. The experience takes about one hour.

Takoyaki making in Shinjuku - This was an amazing experience! It was so wonderful to learn how to make takoyaki and make it myself. I have allergies to octopus, and mentioned it before hand to them on the reservation so they switched the octopus for me to chicken and my friends were able to make it with octopus. He was super kind and used a translator app to explains things my friends and I didn't understand. It was so delicious!

Amazing!! - The Takoyaki was delicious! He was very helpful with cooking it and was very friendly. It was the first and probably the only time I’ll ever get to make my own Takoyaki like this. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who likes Takoyaki!!

Food tastes better when you make it! - The place was small but a great vibe. We had a lot of fun and they even made dietary adjustments for my friend who couldn’t eat octopus. I recommend!

Dissapointing - I would not recommend this experience - I was expecting more for what I paid. The tour operators did not explain the steps and instead just pointed to step-by-step instructions. One of them spoke English and was very nice, however, the second tour operator was not very pleasant and barely aknolwedged me - he also kept insisting to take photos of me which made me a bit uncomfortable. They also refused to give me my alcoholic beverage despite that it was advertised as being included...after some back and forth they did give it to me at the end though. Lastly, the takoyaki (which were made using a takoyaki pan) did not taste very good and honestly I worried about whether they were properly cooked. I appreciate that one of the tour operators spent a lot of time talking to me and was very nice but the whole experience was not what I was looking for.
