Top day trip choice with tour guide Ilir - We have an amazing trip, the view in shkoder castle, lake and ottoman bridge are all beautiful and worth visiting, but the best part of this trip is definitely our guide Ilir!!!
In short, We loved the trip and highly recommend to anyone who wants to know more about Albania, especially with Ilir, no need for second thought, just go and enjoy the day.
Ilir is full of knowledge about Albania, whether the past or nowadays of this country, and with the enthusiastic to share with us.We visited a few museums and also done some material reading of Albania before this day-trip,however nothing can campares with the conversation and sharing from Ilir, besides the detailed tour to each sites,he is willing to answer all our questions (from religious to daily life) with thorough and understandable explanation, helps a lot for us to understand Albania in more dimensions.

Highly recommend - Fabulous tour of Shkoder with the best tour guide ever! Ilir is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area and Albania in general. His rich commentary about the castle and history of Shkoder made the tour such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend this tour—any tour — with Ilir.

Well worth the drive, a beautiful, friendly, vibrant place - This trip, booked through Viator; was a day trip from our hotel in Tirana. Picked up by car, we enjoyed our own personal guide today. Jac was knowledgeable, friendly and kept the pace of the trip moving. Shkoder came ‘recommended’ and it didn’t disappoint. After a 90min drive we arrived to beautiful scenery, historic bridges, castles and monuments, friendly and welcoming people, great food and drink. All round excellent.
There’s probably not enough shops for shopping in the town; but if you want to experience Albanian culture, history and hospitality (without bumping into too many other tourists) Shkoder is for you.
Well recommended as a place to visit.

Impressing - Shkoder is a lively city with a nice old part. But the best is the old castle a little bit outside, up on a hill, which you can reach by car. But to enter the castle, from where you have enormous views over the rivers and lakes. At the end of the castle, a little bit hidden, there is a cosy cafe from where you can also see the great landsacpe. But don't forget to use good shoes for sightseeing.

A visit to Shkodër - Even though it was cold and rainy it was a good trip. The sun came out after our delicious lunch on the lake. The scenery was amazing- the sparkling lake and the Alps across it. And the town of Shkodër was charming.

Shkoder private tour in winter - Left for Shkoder at 9am. It was cloudy and weather forecasted that it will rain. Despite the mood-dampening weather, the tour guide, Ilir, made our day. He was very caring, he brought us umbrella and always keeping a lookout for us when we were walking on the street. Knowing that we may be tired sitting in the car for hours can be tiring, he seek our opinion to detour to a city nearby (LeZhe) and showed us more history of Albania.
He also went the extra mile to buy us hot drinks to ensure that we were not cold. He was very clear in his explanation and we love the story he shared on the legend of the Rozafa castle. The trip is especially pleasant with Ilir around. If i could rate the tour guide, he is definitely the best tour guide out of all, a 10 stars out of 5 stars, exceeding all our expectations.

Full Day Tour - Seeing all aspects of Albania - Fantastic day out packed with local history Asked for an English speaking guide, ILIR turned up a highly educated young man who kept us informed all day about the trips highlights and Albanian history Great value for money !!
Would not recommend hiring a car in Albania - leave it to the locals and their "Unique" style of driving !!

This was our second day trip from... -
This was our second day trip from Tirana, and we were lucky enough to have Ilir, the tour guide from our previous day's trip to Berat, for this trip to Shkoder. The views from the castle are incredible! For me, the views were the highlight of the trip. After a stroll around the city, we took a brief car ride to the side of Lake Shkoder for an outstanding lunch. Afterwards, we continued along the shore a bit further for some more awesome views to wrap it up before heading back to Tirana. Ilir was able to answer all of the large amount of questions I asked during our two days together. A very impressive guide, you should hope he is assigned to your booking!!!

Comfortable car, excellent guide - Great way to see Shkoder castle, lake and old city with a really friendly and helpful guide. We took the tour to Shkoder and then got dropped off at our hotel there, rather than returning to Tirana. Really appreciated the comfortable car, local information and connection (all for less cost than a transfer). Suggest taking lunch by the lake or packing snacks. It’s a long day, but great itinerary.
