Magical experience with a wonderful tour guide - Poongkie was a wonderful guide and we enjoyed the tour very much. We learnt lots about Buddhism and the Thai culture and got to try some fantastic coffee in the village. Climbing the steps to the temple and seeing the monks chanting is something I will remember forever. Magical!! Couldn't recommend it enough.

Excellent half day trip - We had a very interesting trip to the Hmong village and Wat Doi Suthep. Our guide Mr. John showed a lot of experience and spoke excellent English. He never rushed, we sat down for coffee while he explained the history of the Hmong people and showed us some local wooden games. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour this morning. It came with a very clean and new Mini-bus and an excellent driver. Free drinking water was provided. Would highly recommend this company for any tour around Chiang Mai. Sadly we only had them on this half day trip and not on the full day tour to Chiang Rai.

Interesting and informative - Birdie and our driver Uthai (apologies for spelling) were wonderful. The van was very well maintained, clean and we were provided water and towelettes. This half day tour exceeded our expectations. We spent time in the village hearing the history and the current context. Birdie was fluent in English and freely shared her knowledge. The market had good buys but wasn’t pressured, or busy when we went earlier in the morning. The temple was impressive including its origin and the monuments and relics surrounding it. So pleased we spent this time for the tour. Very fortunate with both staff who shared a laugh with us and made for a really enjoyable experience. Good value at 900 baht each.

Great tour! - We really enjoyed this! Our guide, John, was so friendly and interesting to talk to. We were able to ask any question and learned so much. John even worked with me on my Thai language skills! Our driver, Sombat, was very capable and negotiated the rough roads with ease. We spent plenty of time visiting the temple and never felt rushed. We had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic morning tour - You can tell a great tour guide as soon as you meet. John the Baptist was one of those! He loves talking to people and he's enthusiastic with a great sense of humour. John imparts a wealth of knowledge on the subject and has an interesting background. John and the driver picked us up on time in his spacious and clean van. There were 2 other couples from different countries making up a nice group. All up it was very relaxing, fun and we'll organised. Well done TC.

Half day trip - We enjoyed this half day trip to the hill tribe and Doi Suthep temple. M was very knowledgable and funny. He answered all our questions and shared lots of information. It was a nice amount of time to see these 2 places. The mini bus was clean, air conditioned and comfortable. I would recommend this tour. It saved us a lot of hassle finding our own way to and from the temple and village.

Good half day trip to Doi Suthep and Doi Pui - Well-organised tour. We went in the afternoon and it turned out that we were the only ones joining the tour. Our guide, John, was talkative and shared quite a lot of fun facts about Doi Suthep and the history of the Hmong tribe. The Temple was impressive and John did give us some tips on what to look for in there. However, there was not much to see in Hmong tribe village as it was basically a shopping spot, rather than an experience of how the Hmong people live. The tour would have been better had it included a more in-depth introduction of different facets of Hmong people's lives. Our driver Bank drove safely and took care of the van really well. When we were returning to our hotel, driving downhill from Doi Suthep, a coach was in front of us and everyone attempted to overtake it except Bank. All in all, a pretty good trip.

Review of half-day Doi Suthep and Doi Pui tour: how not to do tours - Need to be outspoken more so than usual here. This experience deserves a 1/5 in reality, but John (our tour guide) did one thing for us - which was critical in nature -, thus bouncing the score up to 2/5. Sorry John, but what you did otherwise is just horrible, horrible work. Your English level is very good, so there couldn’t have been a communication gap between us. You committed to providing us lots of information, claiming that you are talkative and we will learn a lot. You even went on to state that this is what separates you from other tour groups. Well, why didn’t you fulfill your promise, especially since you claim to be such a good Catholic? We have been traveling since 10 days and joined multiple tours, so we have a pretty good comparison basis of what sharing a lot of information looks like + we take notes. With your tour we barely had any notes by the end of the half-day. One of the things you spoke the longest about was how to recognize real handmade hemp clothing vs machine-made. It felt like a cheap trick to get us to shop - and well, it seemed to have work as most of the group did buy stuff, but what about the customers who were there to learn about Hmong people and Doi Suthep? You didn’t even provide information when Doi Suthep was built for crying out loud. But by the time we could’ve asked you this, we were late with every activity before - since you didn’t manage the group of 6 adults + 2 children properly. This caused us to be 30-minutes late back to the hotel (compared to the promised time), even though we were the first ones to be returned back (after having to deal with the stress that we will miss our next program). All of this is just a flavor of how horrible this trip was (we could write much longer), but the point is: do not go on this tour and definitely avoid going with John if you actually want to learn anything! Pro tip: Doi Pui (the Hmong village) is a tourist attraction. It is all fake and created for tourism purposes. Skip it if you can and spend the extra time in Doi Suthep (which is otherwise beautiful).
