Highlights
 • Basilica Cateriniana Di S. Domenico - The Basilica of San Domenico is one of the most significant churches in Siena, situated between the square of San Domenico and Via della Sapienza. Constructed in the 13th century and expanded in the following century, it houses the head-relic of Saint Catherine of Siena within a magnificent Renaissance chapel built for this purpose.
 • Duomo di Siena - Duomo di Siena (exterior visit), is a medieval church in Siena, Italy, originally dedicated as a Roman Catholic Marian church and now dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. Built between 1214 and 1263, it features a Latin cross structure, a modestly protruding dome, and an adjacent bell tower. Both the exterior and interior are adorned with alternating blocks of white marble and thinner greenish-black stripes, the symbolic colors of Siena.
 • Centro Storico di Siena - This is the heart of Siena, the core of the historic center recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the most beautiful squares globally. Piazza del Campo, shaped like a shell divided into nine sections in honor of the Nine Lords who ruled the city in the late 13th century, captivates with its elegance and unique form. Named for its past as a green market space, Piazza del Campo is now the city’s living room and the open-air arena for the famous Palio, held twice a year. On July 2 and August 16, the piazza, paved in pietra serena, is covered with a mix of tuff and sand for the horse races between the city’s districts.
 • Historic Centre of San Gimignano - San Gimignano is a small, walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena, known as “The City of the Hundred Towers,” retaining its original features and timeless charm. The name ‘San Gimignano’ is also associated with one of Tuscany’s most historic wines: “La Vernaccia di San Gimignano.” Upon arriving in San Gimignano, you can explore its enchanting medieval streets and visit the old center where the renowned Chianti wine is produced.
 • Tenuta Torciano - Tenuta Torciano is a hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany, near San Gimignano and centrally located between Siena and Florence. With a history spanning 13 generations of winemakers, it produces high-quality wines by blending ancient cultivation methods with modern technology. Here, you will experience the warmth of Tuscan hospitality and the simplicity of good living. The estate offers tours and tastings of local products in a beautiful wine cellar, featuring 10 different types of wine and oil.

Fantastic trip with exremely... -
Fantastic trip with exremely passionate guide, Claudio, to beautiful Siena and San Gimignano. Claudios enthusiasm for the history, knowledge of the region and kindness made the trip much better than we expected. Claudio not only told us about the sites at the destinations but also all along the way and his excitement made us appreciate each fact and site even more. I would say it was the highlight of our trip to Italy, other than visiting our daughter, which included Rome, Florence and Venice. The stop for wine tasting and lunch was also fun, but I would have gladly traded that for lunch and more time in either Siena or San Gimignano which are both breathtaking locations. In Siena we were able to walk to the basilica and tour the inside which was quite impressive. We also made our way to the square and took in the sights there. In San Gimignano we walked some of the streets to a spot with a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside and then crossed the town to the other gate.
All in all a great trip. A long ride from Rome but if your plans do not allow you to visit here from Florence or spend a day or two, like us, then this is a great way to add it in. Thanks also to the driver, Luc, who navigated the crazy traffic with ease.
