Minneriya National Park - This park is home to a myriad of dry zone flora and fauna, with a significant elephant population as a unique feature. Unlike other national parks, here elephants can be seen from an unusually close proximity. Over 160 bird species, 9 different varieties of amphibians, 25 types of reptiles, 26 fish species, and upwards of 78 butterfly species inhabit this region. Remarkably, it also hosts a rare species of bamboo not present in other national parks.
