- Akbar’s Tomb - You will be picked-up from your hotel in Agra and taken to “Sikandra Mausoleum of Emperor Akbar the great” . The huge courtyard is entered through a stunning gateway. It has three-storey minarets at each corner and is built of red sandstone strikingly inlaid with white-marble geometric patterns. The mausoleum is at sikandra, 10Km NW of Agra Fort. Construction of this aesthetic monument was planned and started by Akbar himself. But Akbar died before his mausoleum could be completed and his son Jahangir completed it.
The mausoleum is surrounded by a beautiful garden, providing a tranquil ambience to the last abode of this great ruler. The British had introduced a few antelopes into this enclosure. This herd has thrived in this enclosure and now there are probably about 50-60 of them along with a few peacocks.

Worth the stop - If you get the chance, Sikandra Mausoleum is worth a detour / stop.
Beautiful architecture is on offer. A guide could useful to explain the history of the site and buildings.

Not on the beaten track - This is a monument that is off the beaten track of visitors to Agra.
Once on the main Delhi Agra Highway it is now off the new expressway. Still it is worth a visit for the size and the detailed architecture.
Do engage a guide to explain you the many facets of the tomb of one of Indians great kings.

A must see on the way into Agra - If you get the chance, Sikandra Mausoleum is worth the stop. More mind-blowing architecture is on offer. A guide is useful to explain the history of the buildings.

Another Mughal splendour - visit this place apart from taj also, its four minarets give an impression of hyderabads charminar, 5 storey mansion like mausoelum is just a gem
