Our journey commences with a tour of the historic Moorish capital of Algarve, Silves, crowned by its scenic castle which overlooks the river and its antique Roman bridge. We then proceed towards Algarve’s highest peak, Foia, standing at a height of 902 meters. En route, we pause to explore the quaint hamlet of Caldas de Monchique, celebrated for its renowned spa. Roman-age health benefits of the spa water have kept it in high esteem. At Foia, we get to savor native liqueurs of the region, this experience preceding lunch at a local restaurant found in the Serra de Monchique, serving traditional Algarve cuisine. The afternoon is earmarked for a tour of Lagos famously associated with maritime activities, and the origin point of Portuguese marine expeditions in the 15th century. Ponta da Piedade, noted for its awe-striking geological formations. Final stop is Sagres where we get the chance to marvel at the Atlantic Ocean’s spectacular sunset view from Cabo de São Vicente, once referred as the ‘End of the World’.
