Simply great! - I did the Singalila Ridge Trek with Adventures Unlimited in October 2024 and can highly recommend it to anyone.
Although I booked at short notice, the manager took a lot of time in advance to give me detailed advice. With her experience, she skillfully evaluated the weather and my wishes.
Abhishek was a super fun, helpful and competent tour guide. He spared no effort to make sure everyone had a great experience. He provided us with excellent food and often got up at sunrise to check if the mountain view was clear. When one participant got altitude sickness, he managed to take the best possible care of him and still guarantee that the rest of the group could continue the tour.

Reliable and knowledgeable- The personal service and attention went above and beyond. - Travelling with five friends on our big India trip we were looking forward to Darjeeling as the highlight. I had booked the toy train from Siliguri to Darjeeling myself in advance and also arranged with Catherine in advance to do a trek to Tongolu, 700 meters above Darjeeling. We picked Catherine because of the previous reviews and weren’t disappointed. The previous couple of weeks we heard had been dogged with clouds, but we were fortunate to get clear blue skies for most of the day with fabulous views of Kangchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain. Actually, our trip had started to fall apart a bit in a couple of days before in Siliguri when we found the toy train I’d booked was cancelled and I was left at 6 am in the morning wondering how I could get the five of us up to Darjeeling to continue our trip. I emailed Catherine on the off chance she might be able to help and within half an hour she had replied offering me a beautiful taxi service for the five of us that followed the route of the railway track - almost as good as taking the train. She also booked us on a day train trip from Darjeeling to Ghum the next day pulled by a steam engine-Somehow obtaining the last five seats on the train. The trek Catherine organised the following day was just as memorable with an excellent guide and well coordinated throughout. Catherine even lent us a hiking pole for one of our party who felt he needed one. Highly recommended travel agency – you’re only likely to come to Darjeeling once so make sure you book with Catherine .

Amazing experience with a great company - We were a group of four who did the Singalila Ridge trek with Adventures Unlimited. Throughout the entire process, from finding the office, to meeting the staff, to the trek itself, Adventures Unlimited was amazing! They were very flexible with our trekking dates and had no problem when we had to postpone for a couple days due to illness. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our guide, Amit, gave our group an amazing experience and a life-long friendship.
I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Adventures Unlimited again in the future, and I’d recommend them to anyone who wants a positive and memorable experience.

Highly Recommend!!! - My group absolutely loved our experience hiking the Singalilia Ridge! Our guide Amit was fantastic as a leader, motivator, medic, educator and friend and Catherine, one of the owners was incredibly kind and helpful.
As far as the trek itself, it’s pretty hard to beat waking up and getting clear views of 4 of the 5 highest peaks in the world! Also the diversity of landscapes were fascinating going from bamboo forests to lush rainforest.
I would highly recommend Outdoor Adventures to anyone looking to do a trek and will absolutely use them again if I am ever back in the area.
Thanks again for the incredible experience team!

Incredible trek along Singalila Ridge - My partner and I had a fantastic time with Adventures Unlimited from start to finish. Our dates were fairly specific because we were in Darjeeling for a wedding, but Catherine and Gautam were extremely accommodating and offered a variety of options. We ended up doing a reverse Singalila Ridge trek condensed from six days to five, with a longer first day. Our guide Abhishek was one of the friendlist people we've ever met and was also very knowledgeable - we learned so much from him about the habitats and communities that we visited on our trek, and he did everything in his power to make sure that we had a fantastic trip. It was an unforgettable experience. We couldn't recommend Adventures Unlimited more!

Awesome hike! - This is a brilliant hike - you walk along the border of India and Nepal and are amongst some of the tallest and most beautiful mountains in the world. Our guide Tenzi was a legend - he knows every bird and animal along the way and will help you spot some incredible creatures. We were lucky enough to see tahr, many yaks, mountain goats, a snake and many beautiful birds. Tenzi is extremely knowledgeable about all the mountains too - we will miss his chipper attitude and great one liners. The food is the best we have had hiking and the tea is endless (I had 10 cups of tea one day… A new record haha). Catherine is incredibly helpful and will answer any questions you have and make sure you have the best hiking experience. Great option if you’re a little short on time too - we modified the normal route to do it in four days and it was doable, just a long last day. All round awesome experience and company and would recommend to anyone :)

Fantastic Adventures Unlimited - Great organisation by Adventures Unlimited. Initial warmup in Darjeeling, followed by a 4-day trek in Singalila. The guide was friendly and experienced. The porters were two sympathic young men. The company even secured a clear view of Kanchenjunga during the whole trek. I would immediately go again. Fully recommend the experience with Adventures Unlimited!

Best Trekking Provider - Hands down, the best trekking provider we’ve worked with. From the beginning, the level of communication and willingness to adapt to our preferences was excellent. Catherine was very professional and instilled full confidence from the moment we heard from her. Although the weather during our trek wasn’t great, the experience was made by the guide we had, Abhishek. Incredibly knowledgable, fun and serious to attention to detail - he brewed fresh coffee every morning. Amazing. The provider and guide you work with on these treks can make or break your experience - in this case they made it. Would 100% recommend if you’re thinking about going to singalila or elsewhere in the region. Thank you.

Wonderful Singalila 4-Day Trek - Adventures Unlimited organized and executed a terrific, customized Singalila Trek experience!
The biggest strength with Adventures Unlimited is the personal touch they add, making sure you get the trek that fits with your schedule and hiking level. Their Sales and Operations head, Catherine, was instantly responsive and flexible with ideas when I suggested what I was looking for--we worked together to design a 4-day itinerary.
Before the trek, Catherine made sure to meet with me to go through a safety briefing and confirm that I had all the equipment needed. The next day had easy pickup from my hotel in Darjeeling, and I was handed off to my guide, Arpan.
The journey took me from Dhotrey to Tonglu to Sandakphu to Phalut to Srikhola before returning via car to Darjeeling. Total 38 miles and 10,200 feet of elevation gain over 4 days. Views of Kangchenjunga were prominent for 3 days on this route, and Mount Everest was visible from Sandakphu. The scenery was lovely, and in April, there were rhododendrons in full bloom all over.
I was trekking solo, and Arpan did a great job of setting/keeping good pace with my capabilities. He made good conversation, but also gave me space when I wanted to be with my own thoughts. I was very happy with his approach to the trek.
All food and accommodations we taken care of, ranging from simple hotels to homestays with mostly family cooked meals. All food was good, and never needed to rely on any extra snacks. Plenty of tea along the way, and Catherine had provided coffee to me for mornings.
I will note that for those looking to do this faster version of the hike, the Phalut to Srikhola segment was very difficult on my knees. I highly recommend having hiking poles (provided) as it was 4:30 of downhill hiking.
Upon completion, Catherine reached out to see how the trek went and make sure that she could meet me when I got back. All of these small touches of concern really made Adventures Unlimited stand out as committed tour company. I was dropped off at my hotel and they came to me to collect borrowed equipment.
I highly recommend Adventures Unlimited for your Singalila experience; they really put customers first!

5 days of trekking bliss, incredible views. - Took a short notice decision to go on this trek, very much vindicated by the 954 photos I took (no, seriously) of the incredible views, the sense of achievement and adventure, and meeting some truly first-class people. Our guide deserves special mention. He was unbelievably lleasant to talk to, conscientious to a tee, always concerned with our welfare and making sure everyone was OK in all situations. Some of the people on the trek got into trouble and unfortunately had to leave the trek for medical reasons; he handled this situation with professionalism, competence, and sensitivity, in challenging circumstances where a mis-step could have resulted in a bad situation becoming much worse. His knowledge of local landmarks and customs (and food!) added colour to an already interesting few days.
Don't underestimate the physical/medical side of this trek. Its fine for any reasonably able person, but be careful if you're badly out of shape, or impaired in some way. 21km of trekking along a mountain ridge at 3600m elevation, almost all of it either ascent or descent, will give you a good day's work. That said, I'm a bit of a couch potato, and day 3 tested me a little, but it was very much worth it. Some of the accommodations, high up on the mountain, were a little rough-and-ready, but that is also very much worth it, taken as part of the experience.
All considered;
One of the best experiences I've had, particularly the stunning views on the morning of day 3. I will literally remember that feeling for the rest of my days. Beautiful part of the world, great trekking, marvellous people. Also a very reasonable cost, considering other trekking options I've looked at. Strong recommendation.
