Visit one of these palaces: National Palace of Sintra, National Palace of Pena, Quinta da Regaleira, Palace of Monserrate. (optional visit - admission fees apply)
- Palacio Nacional de Mafra - The National Palace of Mafra is the most majestic palace in Portugal. It was built in the 18th century during the reign of King Joao V, the richest monarch of Europe at the time. The gold from “Minas Gerais” in Brazil, a Portuguese colony then, financed the enormous constructions executed under the order of this king, namely the Aqueduct of “Aguas Livres” in Lisbon and this enormous palace with the private quarters of the King and Queen located at each extremity with distance of 232 meters (7050 feet) from each other. The highlights of this visit to the interior of this Baroque palace include the stately library, the nursing ward and hospital, the convent and the Basilica where an atrium is decorated with Italian sculptures and marble features.
- Ericeira - One of the oldest fishing towns in Portugal founded by Phoenicians in 1000 B.C. Free time to walk about the pedestrian streets where you can find a variety of local shops, a point of interest for many national and international tourists.

Moving on, we have Mafra, located just short distance away. Here, we will explore Portugal’s grandest Baroque landmark: the National Palace of Mafra. Constructed in the 18th century by King D. Joao V, it is said that the palace was built upon a vow to honor the progeny he hoped to have with Queen D. Maria Ana of Austria. This incredible edifice also became the focus in ‘Memorial do Convento’, a novel by José Saramago, the celebrated Portuguese Nobel laureate. Our tour includes a visit to the library, infirmary, hospital, convent, and the basilica adorned with Italian sculpture and a rare ensemble of six pipe organs.
