Highlights
  • Park and National Palace of Pena - Discover the Pena Palace, Portugal’s most romantic summer residence and one of Europe’s most stunning palaces. Situated in São Pedro de Penaferrim, within the Sintra municipality on the Portuguese Riviera, the castle perches atop a hill in the Sintra Mountains, overlooking the town of Sintra. On clear days, it is visible from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. As a national monument, it stands as a prime example of 19th-century Romanticism globally. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Portugal’s Seven Wonders. It also serves as a venue for state events hosted by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.
  • Sintra - Delve into this charming medieval village with our official tour guide. You’ll explore the central square, enjoy some free time, and visit the village’s key viewpoints.
  • Palacio Nacional de Mafra - Immerse yourself in Portugal’s largest building and one of Europe’s grandest palaces. The Palace of Mafra, also known as the Palace-Convent of Mafra and the Royal Building of Mafra (Real Edifício de Mafra), is a monumental Baroque and Neoclassical palace-monastery in Mafra, Portugal, about 28 kilometers from Lisbon. Construction began in 1717 under King John V of Portugal and was completed in 1755.

The palace was designated a National Monument in 1910 and was a finalist in the Seven Wonders of Portugal. On July 7, 2019, the Royal Building of Mafra – Palace, Basilica, Convent, Cerco Garden, and Hunting Park (Tapada) – was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Mafra - Discover the area around the palace in the village of Mafra with our tour guide.
  • Ericeira - Visit the fishing village of Ericeira with our tour guide. You’ll have time for lunch in the historic center. Ericeira (Portuguese pronunciation: [eɾiˈsɐjɾɐ]) is a civil parish and seaside community on Portugal’s western coast (in Mafra municipality, located 35 km northwest of central Lisbon, about 45 km by road) and is considered Europe’s surfing capital. It is one of only two European locations among the World Surfing Reserves due to its exceptional coastal conditions. Ericeira’s population in 2011 was estimated at 10,260, covering an area of 12 km².

In the 1940s and 1950s, Ericeira was a favored summer retreat for many Lisbon families. Today, it is a popular destination for both local and international tourists, as well as surfers from around the globe, thanks to its forty beaches with excellent conditions.

  • Centro de Interpretacao da Reserva Mundial de Surf e Posto de Turismo - Visit Europe’s first surf reserve! The Ericeira World Surfing Reserve is a world-class surf zone spanning approximately 8 km of coastline. It boasts a high density of exceptional surf breaks, including iconic spots like Ribeira d’Ilhas and Coxos, among others.

“It is a tribute to all local fishermen who have honored and cherished this beautiful ocean over the centuries. It also signifies a commitment to its preservation, ensuring that this invaluable universal heritage will continue to be enjoyed in its entirety by future generations, just as it was by the pioneers of surfing in Portugal, who were captivated by its discovery.”
