• Sonkamuotka - After a journey of about an hour from Levi, we arrive in Sonkamuotka at Sanna’s Arctic store, where we will have a snack and a hot drink with members of the Alatalo family who have been there for three generations. They will gladly answer all your questions related to Lapland culture. We will continue our adventure on the banks of the Sonkajarvi lake, where we have a cabin and a place for a fire in the hope that the northern lights will appear.

The Sonkamuotka region is a magical place where the night sky comes alive with dancing colors and shimmering lights. Aurora hunters from around the world flock to this remote location in search of the elusive Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Here, in Sonkamuotka area, far from civilization, is the best chance to catch Aurora and enjoy the wild nature of Lapland. We move about 1 hour away from the city lights and car pollution to Sonkamuotka area. (Enontekiö) has the least light pollution and the darkest night sky in Europe. Sonkamuotka is made for admiring the Northern Lights and taking photos. We will equip ourselves with snowshoes so that we can move on the frozen lake. We will make a fire in the middle of nature and enjoy a hot drink and a cookie while we waiting for Northern Lights will appear, our guide will provide you information about Lapland.
