Fun, creative, unique experience! - My sister and I signed up for the 1pm class after a morning of sightseeing and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon off the ship! Randy explained everything perfectly and all tools and safety gear was provided. Neither of us had ever worked with metal arts prior to this and we came away with a fantastic memento and fun memories of a truly unique experience. Thanks to The Cool Bus, transportation to/from was a breeze!

Something a little different in Sitka - Having visited Sitka in the past we wanted to do something different. Made a reservation for my wife and I. This was out of her comfort zone as she would rather quilt or stitch something than use power tools. She absolutely enjoyed this. They did a great job of teaching you how to use the equipment and why you needed to do each step of the process to turn a piece of steel into metal art. She made a brown bear and I did a blue crab. They also arranged transportation from the ship and back with the Cool Bus who did a great job of getting us to and from the shop.

The Salty Sitkan - Having been to Sitka many times before, we were looking for something new. I came across this Great Metal Art Workshop. We had our two twelve-year-old granddaughters with us. Being a retired shop teacher, I thought it was great. Last time we were here we went to see the bears, we felt bad for the bears in the enclosure they were in. Mike the instructor at the Metal Art Workshop in Sitka gave us a variety of Local Alaskan wildlife figures to make. I made the bear, my wife made the humpback whale and the two grandkids made the Dungeness crab. It is a 2 1/2-hour hands on workshop will worth the time, because you get to keep the wonderful piece of at you make. The name of this non cruise workshop is the Salty Sitkan..

Ocean Creatures Masterpieces - My wife and I took the 7/13/24 class with Luke, and it was great! He was a fantastic teacher. Fortunately we were party of a small group and he took his time with all of us. We had a lot of fun learning how to make masterpieces of our King Crab and Halibut. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sitka!

A Local who loved the Class - I live full time in Sitka and have dabbled in local art. The one thing that I really wanted to learn about was how to achieve the different colors on the metal using heat. The CNC machine that cut out the blanks was very interesting. The class took us through a very logical progression, with breaks to explain the next step. Loved the results. You end up with new knowledge, time using your hands and a great piece of metal art.

Would definitely recommend!! - Would highly recommend this as part of your day in Sitka. Such a fun idea, Mike was incredible in teaching us how to work with the metal, had some great stories about the area and and shared some general knowledge. My boys and I loved it and have the coolest souvenir which will be shipped directly home.
