A short surreal experience - We took a private tour to candy mountains & simply loved it for the expansive mountain terrain & the serenity. There were no crowds , it was a breezy day & the sun was not too harsh. For miles there was not a soul in sight & it felt so surreal. We were almost tempted to just view from afar & NOT hike up the lowest hill but somehow we clambered up & the views were awesome. So if you are planning a candy mountains trip, make sure you hike up to some level at least. Do remember to Carry your sun hat, water, juice & something to munch & please don’t leave your trash at the base. It would be nice if the tour drivers Offered water bottles for customers but apparently that’s too much to expect ? To be honest, the name candy is a bit of a misnomer - the colours are faded compared to what the pics indicate - more like chewed up candy colour ! However That doesn’t take away the beauty of the place & we liked it much more than the very average mud volcanoes & fire mountain tour. We would advise the tour operators to make the candy mountains drive longer by 8-10 kilometres so that the tourists can have their fill of the awesome natural beauty on display.

Very good trip - Trip was very good comfortable car. Driver was very nice and polite but didn’t speak English. I would say it was a long drive for a short trip. Tour operator is very professional.

unique geography & 100% satisfaction! - I picked the Candy Mountains half-day trip since I have never been to this unique geography. I tried to find a half-day trip but it was not easy since other tours take almost all day, stopping by places I was not interested in. I wanted to spend some time taking good photos with a unique background nature. So I had to go on this tour. Eltaj is so professional and I can see how much he tries to deliver what the tourists want. I told Eltaj that I wanted to get good photos at Candy Mt. He also arranged a tour guide who acted as my photographer as well. Gunay is an excellent guide. She took great photos for me and she answered all the questions that I asked about Azerbaijan. I had such a great time with her. I gave a 5-star review but it is not good enough to express my satisfaction. Eltaj and Gunay are very professional and friendly. I strongly recommend this tour and of course, I trust Baku Tours, so all other tour programs must be as great as what I took.

Amazing half-day tour with a easy hike! - One of the most beautiful places in Azerbaijan and absolutly recommended. Thanks for the tour organized by BakuExplorer, I was able to visit this place without any hassel. The communication was great and the driver was very kind and helpful. I had a great time during the tour and I'd recommend to other tourists who'd like to visit this beautiful place!

Expensive taxi ride - I recommend the trip but not the operator. We were cramped in a small car with a driver (not a guide) who could not speak English. We were basically dumped at the site with no direction to fend for ourselves. No information given. It was basically an expensive taxi ride. The site was awesome though.

Ok Experience - Read some of the other reviews before booking this trip, so I thought I knew what what to expect. Some of the reviews had mentioned four stops, another said two, so I was expecting more than one stop, but that's all I got on this trip. If I had known I was only getting one stop, I would have spent more time climbing the hills to get some better views. The mountains themselves were very cool to look at, but the long drive kind of made me question whether it was worth it or not. Although my driver did not speak English, he was extremely pleasant to travel with, stopping on the way to buy me some water and a snack without me asking. We also were communicating through the translator app getting to know each other a little bit. The driver himself almost pushed this to a four star review, but in the end I did come away a little disappointed. My one suggestion would be to have a sheet printed out in English that explained what the expectations are for the trip so you know a little more of what is going on.

Glad I saw the hills but having an English speaking guide/drive would have helped - As others have said, it’s a long drive for a short visit but I did enjoy seeing the pink and white hills and climbing one of them. The driver was very nice but not having someone who I could communicate with made it difficult for me to understand the plan. I had read one review that said there were 4 sites visited so at the first stop I only climbed about halfway up. The second stop wasn’t as easy to get close to so I took some photos and got back in the car. When he turned the car to head back I asked about other stops (and it did look like there was more to see down the road), but he said we were done. We were back to the hotel more than 20 minutes early. Clearly good luck with traffic was a factor but I do think that not having an English speaker with me was a detriment because I had been trying not to take too much time at each stop out of respect for the time limitations. If I had understood that those would be the only stops I would have taken more time at each one.
