Fun day-trip in Skagway - Good sightseeing , and informative trip in Skagway. Jennifer was fun and helpful. Weather was a little too cloudy for good views at altitude... but still interesting.

Family gold-panning and sled dogs worth the visit! - Several family members joined us on the gold-panning and sled dogs tour in Skagway--first time for all. Yes, the dogs were cute and excited to get harnessed up and have a short ride--also a bonus to have an Iditerod 2-year man describe the 1,100-mile trek with very little sleep and how that works with 16 sled dogs! Claim Jumpin' Jerry introduced us to the Klondike and explained how prospectors got scammed...entertaining, informative, with a great mental picture of what it would have been like. And his associate did a great job demonstrating how to get down to the gold. Be aware that the river flows too quickly to find much gold--so they bring "pay dirt" from Dawson. But it's fun anyway to find the flakes at the bottom of the pan...and now you'd know to do DIY out in the wilderness. Worth the excursion!
