Book this tour if you are in Skagway! - We lucked out with the most beautiful, clear day into the Yukon Territory. We traveled with 4 Jeeps in our party and it was easy to follow along with the iPads provided. As others recommended, if you are on a cruise, de-board the boat as soon as you can to get in line to get your jeep. Once we checked in, there was a long wait. We were able to beat a lot of the bus tours and had many of the sites to ourselves. Make sure to leave time coming back to Alaska. Customs returning to the US was quick but we did wait about an hour in line to get into Canada in the morning. This was a great way to see the sights on your own. We took the top off the Jeep and had a blast!!

Fantastic DIY Yukon Tour - A Must-Do Adventure! - We had an amazing time on the DIY Yukon Tour! The Avis rental area was conveniently located just a 5 to 10-minute walk from our cruise ship. The check-in process was seamless, and we were provided with an iPad that synced with the car's Bluetooth, using GPS waypoints to give us a semi-guided tour of the Yukon. The iPad offered about 15 to 20 waypoints with useful information, including some beautiful waterfalls we could hike to. We found this to be far more enjoyable than the train or guided tour buses as it allowed us to stop at various points, take pictures, and enjoy the sights at our own pace. One of the highlights was reaching Emerald Lake, the most beautiful spot in the Yukon, which is not accessible via the train. Driving all the way to Emerald Lake, which takes about an hour and a half, and then backtracking is recommended if the weather is good. This way, you can avoid the crowds from tour buses and vans that tend to gather at Carcross and other popular stops throughout the day. One thing to note is that you do need to fill the Jeep up with gas at the end, which was about six dollars a gallon, and the Jeep is not very fuel-efficient. However, this was a minor inconvenience compared to the overall fantastic experience. This was a great excursion, and we would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore the Yukon at their own pace!

Must do! - Great trip! Jeeps were equipped with bluetooth tablets who would trigger at a certain GPS location to tell you about what you were seeing. Also very accommodating and provided booster seats for our young kids on short notice. Highly recommend!

Great Vehicle and Easy for Cruisers - Easy rental booking via Viator. Close location to cruise dock - an easy walk to collect vehicle! Vehicle was clean and in exceptional condition! We had a blast using the iPad and traveling to the Yukon to Emerald Lake. Being able to travel on our own allowed us to see bears, mountain goats, a grizzly and tons of bald eagles. Highly recommend!!

Just OK - They didn’t have a 4 door Jeep as reserved so we had to get 5 of us in a 2 door Jeep which was not the best start. The audio guide worked really well, but at the end of the day there just wasn’t that much to see. We didn’t see ANY wildlife after a 4 hour ride which was disappointing.

Buy Snacks to Eat as You Ride - This was a very informative trip. We wished that the information in the notebook had been included in the narrative on the iPad. As the person reading the info to our group, I missed seeing lots of interesting things. Plus the narritive should be 15 second or so earlier because we were often past the item that it was telling us about. With all the cruise ships coming in, there were too many people and not enough eating places. Maybe you could offer, sell and encourage a picnic lunch. (Especially if you have kids)
