The Skole Beskids National Nature Park, established in 1999, spans the Carpathian Mountain’s Skole Beskids Range, located on Ukraine’s western frontier. Its main objectives are to safeguard the Carpathian’s beech and beech-fir woodlands and facilitate environmental, ecological, aesthetic, educational, and recreational activities. This park falls under the governance of the Skole, Drohobych, and Turka districts in the Lviv Oblast.
Tustan, a Medieval fortress-city and customs site constructed on a cliff-side that functioned between the 9th and 16th centuries, was an Old Rus defensive entrenchment. Its remnants are nestled in the Eastern Beskids of the Ukrainian Carpathians, specifically in the Skole district of Lviv oblast, near Urych village. This historical, archeological, architectural, and natural spectacle is surrounded by the Pidhorodtsi Forestry and is a part of the Tustan Site Museum.
Tustan served as a defense and administrative hub and a customs point along the crucial salt route that ran from Drohobych, through Transcarpathia, and on to Western Europe.
