Additional Information

During your visit to Can Det, you will witness firsthand why the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The principles of Outstanding Universal Value, as outlined by UNESCO, are reflected in Can Det’s dedication to the cultivation of ancient olive trees on the mountain terraces in the Sóller Valley, as well as its efficient irrigation systems for their orange groves. This place is a testament to humans molding the environment for generations to create today’s cultural landscape. Well worth it! - What a great experience! Our group of 7 was treated to a great tour and delicious locally made food for a light lunch. We learned about traditional olive oil production from the growing process to the bottling. We bought as much as we could take with us. If you want to connect to an area beyond hitting the tourist spots, set up a tour!

Delightful experience and delicious lunch - a real step back in time! - We thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating visit to Ca’n Det! Ana was welcoming and chatty and shared so much information with our small group. She shared some historical background to the olive oil trade on the island and the history of the lovely old house, as well as the process for making olive oil. The old hand-pressing factory is small (and these days features more stainless steel than I was expecting!) but the granite wheels used for crushing the olives and the baskets for draining the oil were very old-school. On a hot day it was cool in the house and the delicious tasting at the end of the tour was fabulous - bread to dip in oil & vinegar, orange juice, wine and almonds and olives from their estate - what’s not to love? The food was served in what would have been the family’s dining room surrounded by old artefacts and it felt like a snapshot of how local life would have been many decades ago. Thanks Ana for a memorable experience and for being so generous with your time!

A Sóller must! - Had a very informative and enjoyable visit. It’s great to hear about the family legacy and the olive oil making process. Of course getting to taste the end product makes it all the more of a treat. Perfect length. Do not try to drive here - park in the centre of town and walk.

Totally worth it!!! - Because of traffic, we arrived 30 minutes late to the tour. We even thought about not going. However, when we arrived everyone couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. They still included us in the remaining time for the tour we had purchased and then we essentially ended up with a private tour of the home. What a wonderful experience! We loved all of it! The olive oil and orange juice both made there were amazing. Thank you so much!!!

Very interesting and very fun - Had a very nice tour. It doesn't take too long, and is followed by a pleasant tasting, which could easily be served as lunch. And very friendly people. A fun indoor activity, a solution for us on a rainy day.
