Visit to Romania’s muddy volcanoes - An excellent visit to the muddy volcanoes, east of the underground salt mine! The landscape is phenomenal, like you are on the moon, where there were numerous circular shaped craters with bubbling soft warm mud!

Sebastian is THE PERFECT guide, highly recommend the trip! - When checking the Viator site for something unique to visit in Romania, we were deciding between Dracula castle and our trip (Salt Mine and Muddy Volcano). We are glad that we have made our choice. First, I would like to express our deep gratitude to our guide Sebastian, who makes our journey a perfect one. He arrived on time to pick us at the hotel, spoke perfect English, was very polite and attentive throughout the journey, and was also very knowledgeable about Bucharest, the salt mine and the muddy volcano. He can even remember all the years when historical events happened! We went on a Thursday so both places were not very crowded. The salt mine is so unique and magnificent to see. It's very spacious down there (50 meters in terms of vertical height and 150 meters underground). We took many lovely pictures there and learned a lot about the history of the mine from Sebastian. A gentle reminder is that the salt mine is quite cold and windy (12 C degree throughout the year), so remember to bring a jacket with you! The muddy volcano is also very unique. We arrived there around 4 pm and we were the only group of tourists there (heard from Sebastian that Dracula Castle would be very crowded so we felt lucky to have made our choice), so we had lots of freedom to take pictures and walk around. Btw, the entry is cash only and we didn't bring any cash. Sebastian kindly bought the tickets for us which was really considerate. Overall, this whole trip is an excellent experience and I would recommend anyone to try it if you would like a day trip outside Bucharest!

Highly recommended! - Our tour guide, Octavian, was friendly and very informative. Because of rain, we didn't visit the muddy volcano, instead, Octavian suggested wine tasting after which we ate the most delicious meal in all of Romania. It was a fun and memorable day.

Salt mine is ok but the volcanoes... - I definitely would recommend the visit to the mines. It was a different experience for those who has never been in a similar place. The environment is amazing. But, I am not sure I would recommend the volcanoes tour if someone asked me. It is a long travel in a windy road which makes my wife and I get sick. Upon arriving there it is a unique experience as long as I have never seen a mud coming from the bottom of the earth. But, I would choose a different think to do mainly because it is far and nothing "ooh"
