Additional Information

This is an exclusive excursion to Romania’s biggest salt mine and the Muddy Volcanoes. We pick you up from your accommodation and journey for approximately 90 minutes to the Salt Mine. We will descend into the earth (a vertical discrepancy of 200 meters) to tour the most massive salt mine in Romania, mined during the 20th century. This spot is particularly recommended for individuals suffering from respiratory ailments as the mine’s air aids in the treatment of select pulmonary diseases. Inside, you’ll find Romania’s largest planetarium, boasting a 16-meter dome and a laser projection system (4k) of 24,000 lumens. Once we exit the mine, we’ll dine together, followed by a drive through the Carpathian hills to the Berca Muddy Volcanoes - a geological and botanical reserve located in Buzău County. A stunning display here is the mini volcano-like formations, typically several meters high, generated by the discharge of mud and natural gases. The mine temperature is a constant 12 degrees Celsius, so dressing warmly is advised!

Highly recommended! - Our tour guide, Octavian, was friendly and very informative. Because of rain, we didn't visit the muddy volcano, instead, Octavian suggested wine tasting after which we ate the most delicious meal in all of Romania. It was a fun and memorable day.
