Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti - Nestled in the verdant foothills of the Carpathian Mountains near Zărnești, the Libearty Bear Sanctuary is the world’s largest sanctuary for brown bears. Unlike a zoo, it spans a lush 69-hectare forest dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating bears that have endured captivity and mistreatment.
Founded by the Millions of Friends Association, the sanctuary offers a natural and serene environment for over 100 bears rescued from small cages, circuses, or illegal private ownership.
The bears enjoy expansive, fenced forested enclosures with pools for bathing, trees for climbing, and ample space to explore—often for the first time in their lives. - Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) - Bran Castle, commonly known as “Dracula’s Castle,” is a historic fortress in Romania, near the town of Bran, straddling the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. The castle sits atop a rocky hill, surrounded by dense forests, giving it a dramatic and imposing look. Constructed in the 14th century, the castle served as a strategic defense point against invading forces, including the Ottoman Empire.
Bran Castle’s architecture is a blend of medieval and Gothic styles, featuring tall towers, narrow staircases, and maze-like corridors. It boasts 57 rooms, including a secret passage that enhances its mysterious charm. Despite its popular link to Bram Stoker’s fictional Dracula, there is no evidence that Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure who inspired the character, ever resided there.
