NOT on the mountains as advertised - Booking the experience was a breeze and the staff here reached out directly to tell me what worked best for me as a beginner in horseback riding. I am NOT new to riding horses, I just do not have the experience to ride comfortably on my own. I was told I would get a training session prior to the actual horseback riding which I agreed to. I was picked up near my hostel. I stayed in Old Town and cars are not allowed in those streets so I was picked up as close by as possible. Alex was my designated driver; he was friendly and spoke English well. Upon arrival, one must walk towards the big barn. I was given a helmet and then walked towards the horse trainer. At this point, the only people who spoke English were Alex and the person who called me to let me know I needed a training lesson. However, it was hard to keep up with who was who because no one really introduced themselves except for the driver. Alex stayed with me during my training lesson to translate. The trainer and the horse were both amazing. I learned so much and had fun at the training. I learned how to command the horse to walk, to go faster, and how to walk him with one hand and the other. After the training, I took a small break before the actual excursion started. I was under the impression that I would be horseback riding through the Rhodope Mountains as advertised. I searched online and thought the scenery was amazing and I was really looking forward to a nice beautiful horseback riding adventure. Instead, I was walked through the paths nearby. No nice scenery. And as mentioned, I was WALKED. Then why did I need the horseback riding training for if I was going to be walked? I did not enjoy the scenery as this is not what I thought I paid for. I was the only guest and no one talked to me during this walk and I found it very boring. I wish I had said something, but I started to doubt what I actually booked and I did not have service out there. The walk lasted about 20 minutes and then I headed back with Alex to drop me off back to Plovdiv. Super disappointed.
