Stunning Views - The scenery around White Island was stunning! Crystal clear waters and breathtaking landscapes made for fantastic photo opportunities. The snorkeling spots were well chosen, with vibrant reefs and lots of fishamd corals. Really enjoyed the trip and sure will come back.

One of the best experiences - Where to start? Collected from the hotel and taken to the port, guided through and then there was a bit of a wait for various reasons - seemed a little chaotic and unorganised but the rest of the day made it worth it.
We then walked to the boat and there were hundreds, such a crazy thing to see. I highly recommend you bringing with you the following: a towel, a water bottle, sun cream and perhaps the odd other thing you may want for a day out.
Drinks are included but there was a long, hot wait in the sun before leaving the docking area and I wish I had a bottle of water as we didn’t know where the water was at this point and it was only from plastic cups/water dispenser.
The views leaving the port were great, with good information from the crew. The first stop was very scenic but over crowded with boats and was pure chaos snorkelling, not the tours fault.
They decided to move to a second location to continue with the scuba diving, I’d argue that they rushed each person and you do not get even 10 minutes, but I still highly appreciated the opportunity and experience.
After we all had a turn at scuba diving and plenty of snorkelling, we were served some really nice food while we continued to the White Island.
At this point, looking back at the other boats following made it look like an invasion, there are so many which I initially thought was sad as the human race is destroying or polluting the natural places but then thought that we do deserve to visit these places and all of the boats done a really great job at keeping people safe, making sure nothing was loitered overboard and there wasn’t really anything going into the sea other than the emissions from the boats.
The view of the white islands was breathtaking. There was a bit of a swim from anchoring to the sand but again the crew are so good at safely helping people here, I was confident with swimming so it didn’t phase me but when I saw a young boy around the age of 8 struggle and his mum couldn’t swim with him holding onto her, a crew member took the boy over himself.
The ‘beach’ had the cleanest, whitest sand I have ever seen or felt in my life. It was such a one off experience that I’m so glad I decided to take part in.
I’m really not sure there is any downsides to a day out with these views and experiences. But keep in mind once you’re finished here and heading towards the port, it’s around a 2 hour journey back so enjoy sunbathing or as mentioned, bring the odd thing to keep yourself amused like earphones or a book.

Disappointing - The “what to expect” guide for this tour tells you that your boat will be “waiting for you arrival” when you get to the port. This was not the case. The time between our arrival at the dock and when we got on the boat was just under 2 hours. For the vast majority of that time we weren't provided with any updates (or even any refreshments), and were just left to seek shade where we could find it. Eventually we were told that the delay was just because the port was so busy that day(which it was), but it was very obvious that the boat simple hadn't turned up until about 30 minutes before we managed to get aboard. We did still get the full length of tour on the water, but the delay ruined our dinner plans for the evening.
The boat itself was reasonably sized for the 25 occupants, but the provision of drinks was somewhat inadequate. Water, tea, coffee, and over-diluted cordial (labelled as juice) were in plentiful supply, but there was a single large bottle of cola and one of sprite that was somehow intended to be sufficient for all onboard. I felt guilty having more than one small cup of it as it was clear that there wouldn't be enough if everybody wanted some.
At our first stop we did scuba diving. The instructor (who was good) ran through a clear safety briefing beforehand, and we felt comfortable that we were suitably prepared for the dive. However, the area we stopped at was incredibly busy. Seemingly every single boat trip stops at this same small bit of reef. You see as much of other people's feet and flippers as you do fish.
The dive itself was one person at a time (which was not made clear in the tour description). This was a massive disappointment as having travelled as a couple we very much wanted to dive together. Had we known this would have been the structure of the diving we would not have booked this tour.
When under the water the instructor controlled your depth via a buoyancy jacket, and also controlled where you swam. The corals were nice to look at, but the guide mostly seemed concerned with making sure that you posed for plenty of pictures. After an enjoyable but slightly lacklustre 10 minutes or so you were back up onto the boat so that the next person could take their turn.
After our respective dives we also did some snorkeling at the first stop, and although neither of us were good swimmers our snorkeling guide did a good job of taking us around the top of the reef, which was visually very impressive.
A few minutes of travel later we made our second stop where we again did some snorkeling with the aid of the snorkeling guide. He was very helpful and regularly checked with us that we were okay as we were going around. We were offered the chance to do a second scuba dive for £20 each but declined as these would again have been solo dives with the instructor.
After the second stop we were given lunch which was pretty decent (rice, pasta, beef and potatoes, breaded chicken, and salad) and well received.
Our final stop was at White Island which again was heaving with tourists. We swam out to it, sat around for about 15 minutes, then swam back.
With the boat returning to port we were presented with the photographs of us that had been taken throughout the day. Although you expect these to be overpriced the $150 price tag was ridiculous. Even after bartering this down to $100 I felt that we had been ripped off but as it was my girlfriend's first dive we wanted some commemoration of it. The company name that came up when we completed the payment for this back at shore was “Pirates of Photography” and that name couldn't have been more apt.
Overall, I just came away disappointed from the excursion. There's no doubt that the areas we visited are beautiful, but it's hard to enjoy them when they are so overcrowded. That's probably somewhat to be expected, but there's certainly nothing VIP about either the boat (it's exactly the same as all the other boats doing the same trip) or the tour itself. Nothing was done to compensate for the enormous delay to the start of our excursion, and the whole trip felt like an exercise in up-selling. Although the instructors on the boat were helpful and professional, there is no way that I would recommend this tour.
