Incredible forest to table energy experience - Dobrin is a brilliant forager and multi talented guide and cook! This definitely was the highlight of our trip and it didn’t hurt that the. Autumn leaves were in full color in the national park above Sofia.
If you like the outdoors, eating direct from the earth, you must do this tour!!!

Unique experience with a delicious lunch, cooked with what you’ve discovered - Very enjoyable and unique experience foraging, hiking and eating. Our guide, Dobrin, was very knowledgable and passionate about mushrooms. Fully recommend the trip!

A Walk for Goodness - This tour was a special one for those who are culinary enthusiasts. Picture walking through the mountainside of Bulgaria with an expert guide who educates about different forms of mushrooms and their medicinal benefits. We picked a hearty mushroom and had a wonderful opportunity to cook it with polenta and other Bulgarian spices. Definitely a must do!

Interesting and enjoyable walk - Interesting walk was nice to see how dog was working looming for truffles.the homemade bread and cheese was delicious .

Epitome of Culinary Adventure - We had a great time on this culinary adventure with Dorbin. We found and identified many types of Funghi, trees, and flowers. We learned about the inter-connectivity of all these species. Dorbin then cooked served us a delicious lunch of bread with olive oil and homemade herb mix and a wild mushroom polenta with the mushrooms that we found. What a great way to spend the day! Not to be missed for people wanting g something different and off the beaten path!

A grand day out - Our tour guide, Dobrin, is passionate and knowledgeable about mushrooms and plants in Bulgaria. We found many different species of mushroom on our tour, four of them were "choice edibles". We visited two types of forests, oak and pine, and were able to see first hand how different ecologies affected mushroom diversity. Besides lessons in mushroom identification, we also learned how to preserve the flavour when cooking mushrooms and was treated to our first "Mushroom and blue cheese polenta", very tasty. This tour is geared more toward edible mushrooms and plants but Dobrin also has extensive knowledge of medicinal mushrooms. Perhaps a medicinal mushroom tour will be offered in the future. A good experience for all levels mushroom enthusiasts.

Searching for mushrooms in Bulgaria - When I visit a new city, I always check Trip Advisor for interesting tours. I was delighted to find this fungi tour, something I'd never seen in my travels although I forage for mushrooms in the Midwest, where I live. Dobrin, the owner of the tour company, contacted me several times to determine if I had any food allergies (he cooked up the mushrooms we found and we ate them with bread and butter and wild garlic pesto, yummy), to see if I had any preferences for places to forage, to ensure that I was prepared for rain and muddy conditions. I am a 75 year old woman and I said he should plan an outing his grandmother would enjoy and he did that perfectly. We drove out in the country from Sofia and stopped at two forested areas. During our hike, I learned about native, Bulgarian plants, including an orchid variety, and several oak species. The woods were lovely. We found an edible amanita, a mushroom I would have been afraid to eat in the States, but was confident in Dobrin's identification. We also had a giant bolete, but despite the fact that there was plenty of rain, it was early for many mushrooms. I enjoyed learning about the foraging culture in Bulgaria, mushroom hunting is very popular, and enjoyed walking around in the woods. Dobrin was a very kind host, and we chatted about life in Bulgaria on the drive back to my hotel. I would recommend this tour to people interested in getting out of the city and spending time with someone who is passionate about fungi and good food.

Exceptional experience in the beautiful Bulgarian forest - Wow! I've just completed a truly unique. amazing tour during my second day in Bulgaria, and I cannot say enough positive things about the experience provided Dorbin. He is truly passionate about what he does, which is evident in his knowledge, enthusiasm, and unparalleled professionalism. We visited several parts of enchanting forests and meadows, foraging for wild, edible mushrooms, which would become the basis for a delectable picnic lunch. Dorbin also provided fascinating insight into the different herbs growing in the forest, among them peppermint and thyme, alongside wild orchids and other wildflowers throughout our walks. I also learned much about Bulgarian culture and the environment over the course of the tour. The concluding picnic was absolutely delicious, as well as highly nutritious. I am so glad I found this tour after much research, and I would highly recommend experiencing the beauty and serenity of Bulgarian nature with Dorbin!

Wow - I had a very relaxing and enjoyable time in the nature. During that experience I learned a lot about the flowers and mushrooms in Bulgaria. The picnic was the hammer- tasty lunch in the nature- amazing experience. I definitely recommend it!

Gourmet experience in Sofia - We had a great experience in the mountains around Sofia. We went on a wonderful walk in the forest to see different fungi. Then we were treated with a gourmet picnic in the nature. Such a unique adventure. Highly recommended.
