- Museum of Paleontology and Historical Geology - Established in 1965, the Museum of Paleontology and Historical Geology is situated within Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. It occupies the under-domed area of the university’s north wing. The museum’s origins trace back to the formation of a paleontology study group by Prof. G. Zlatarski.
The museum features two distinct exhibitions: one on paleontology and another on historical geology, organized by chrono-evolutionary and thematic principles. The paleontological collection includes significant fossil invertebrates and some plant organisms from the Paleozoic to the Quaternary period. The historical geology exhibition displays rock samples, fossils, and geological maps.
A highlight of the museum, located directly opposite the entrance, is the restored skeleton of the Deinotherium genus. This impressive skeleton, measuring 7 meters in length and 4.20 meters in height, is a sight to behold.
